What You Need to Know . . .
SOAR & EXCEL
We had a GREAT return to school last week! Returning students and new students are eager to learn and build friendships. All students in Grades 2-5 worked on their Beginning of Year Diagnostics in I-Ready for Reading and Math. Grade 3 will begin the Beginning of Grade Test this week. I will share the data reports with you to explain your child's data and goals for this year.
Our goal is to strive for EXCELLENCE in everything that we do. Our WILDLY IMPORTANT GOALS are to have 86% of students meet or exceed growth and a 15% reduction in office referrals for this school year. Thanks for doing all that you can to help us reach these goals this year.
Thank you as we worked through transportation issues and minor delays. To help with transportation issues:
1. The school bus drivers need flexibility; the bus may be 10 minutes early to 10 minutes late so please be aware that pick up and drop off times may change slightly.
2. Have students at the bus stop. For safety, third grade and under must have an adult at the bus stop at pick up and drop off.
3. Car Riders should be on the right side of the car. This will ensure safety so that your child gets out of the car on the sidewalk and not in the driveway.
4. Do not pass other cars in the driveway. This is a MAJOR SAFETY issue. Only a staff member can direct you to go around the waiting car line.
5. Car Riders should pull down to the end of the sidewalk. This helps us keep traffic off of Henderson Road.
6. If you need to enter the school in the morning or afternoon, please park in the parking lot.

Safety
The doors open for walkers and car riders at 7:55am. All students will report to the cafeteria. Class begins at 8:25am. We dismiss students at 2:55pm.
Transportation changes should be written and/or made through the office prior to 2:30 p.m. each day. Students will not be permitted to go home another way without written or verbal verification given to the office. A student cannot inform the teacher and/or office of a transportation change.
Walkers will be released in the grass at the end of the parking lot. Please do not wait at the door or in the staff parking lot. We will deliver your students to you safely.
Car Riders must drive through the car line and stay in the car. At dismissal, students will NOT be released to cars in the staff parking lot or to parents that attempt to get ahead of the dismissal process by coming in the building after 2:30pm to check out their student. In the morning, cars stay in the car line. Do not drive around to the faculty parking lot. Display your car tag (given the first day of school) in your window to help with dismissal.
THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE because we want to keep our staff and students safe that are walking through the parking lot. The bus parking lot is for buses only and can not be used by car drivers. Parents must pick up their children from school by 3:15pm.
- Bus Riders must have someone at the bus stop in the afternoons to receive their children if they are in Kindergarten, first, second, or third grade. The bus driver has to return the student to school if there is no adult to meet them. Remember, riding a bus is a privilege, and after three times that a parent does not meet the bus, the student’s bus riding privileges may be suspended.
- As an added safety measure, North now has security cameras around the buidling and (soon) in the lobby of the school.
