TJS Code of Conduct
On Friday, September 9, 2022, all students participated in grade-level presentations led by Principal Ms. Garcia and School Counselor Mrs. Bletcher. We reviewed our school rules and code of conduct as well as bullying prevention training. Our Code of Conduct is detailed in our TJS Family Handbook which can be found on our school website and is also linked below for your convenience. Torey J. has been identified as a No Place for Hate School since 2017. We are hopeful that our students recognize the importance of school rules and understand their role and impact in our larger school community.
Renaissance Star Testing
Kindergarten teachers administer the STAR CBMs (Curriculum Based Measures) in both reading and mathematics. The Fall kindergarten reading assessments assess a student's understanding of letters and their sounds, basic phonological awareness, and early decoding. The kindergarten math assessments include recognizing numerals and their value. Often times the CBMs may be administered in other grade levels, on an as-needed individual basis. For more information regarding the STAR CBMs, please click here.
Art News From Mr. Thompson
I am so very excited to begin our school year by having classes back in the art room! Having the use of our art studio from day one will be a gigantic step forward in our student's art careers. When the weather participates we will use our outside space this year to draw en plein air. The projects that we will be making will follow but are not limited to, the works of famous artists, cultural history, and books. Students should come in ready to be creative! Almost everything that we will be using this school year is washable. Some of the mediums we will be using in the next few months will be oil pastels, clay, watercolor paint, tempera paint, markers, art stix, and coloring pencils. This year students' artwork will be displayed around our school and on our Instagram page ARTWITH_MRT currently you can see past works of art as well as videos from our district-wide art show! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me via email at thompsong@madisonnjps.org.
Congratulations Mrs. Smith and Mrs. D'Amico!
