Miss Barak and Mrs. Mlinarcik’s Conversation Heart Writing Miss Barak and Mrs. Mlinarcik’s Conversation Heart Writing

Miss Barak and Mrs. Mlinarcik's students have been working on opinion writing over the past few weeks. Recently, they had the chance to put those skills to the test with a fun Valentine's Day-themed writing activity. The topic of the task was to decide whether Conversation Hearts are the ultimate Valentine’s Day candy. The students conducted research, facilitated a taste test, and even created a poll to determine the classroom's preference. Check out the interesting facts students wrote about this sweet activity!

Ultimate Conversation Heart Facts:

Did you know…

  • The first conversation hearts were created by Daniel Chase in 1866.

  • More than 5 billion Conversation Hearts are made by the NECCO candy company every year.

  • About half of Americans buy candy for Valentine’s Day each year, with Conversation Hearts being a top seller.

  • Conversation Hearts can stay fresh for five years or more.

  • 10 new sayings are added each year to Conversation Hearts.

  • One small box of NECCO Conversation Hearts candy contains 110 calories and 27 grams of sugar.
