Chisholm Update
December 8, 2023

Happy Friday Charger Families!
Happy Friday Chisholm Families! Thank you again for your flexibility and patience as we had another remote day of instruction this past Monday. We've had to send devices home on Fridays the past couple of weeks, but that wasn't the case today because it looks like we have some milder temperatures this coming week and finally see our first 5-day week on 2024.
Menu Change for Monday, January 29 -Nachos Grande, Power Pack, Chef Salad
Dismissal Reminder for Spring Hill/ Old Farm/ Thornbrook walkers should only be used by students that live in those areas. If your student doesn't live in those neighborhoods they need to either use bus or car rider to get home at the end of the day. We don't want to send students into a neighborhood that don't live in that neighborhood.
Spring Picture Day is scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday. A flyer is presented below that outlines specifics for each grade level and order forms were sent home this week.
In a little over two weeks on February 13th, there will be a $144 million bond election for the Edmond School District aimed at creating an additional elementary and middle school, a new Freshman Academy at Santa Fe, site additions at Boulevard, Scissortail, John Ross and the Early Child Center. The new elementary and middle school will provide some relief to the district especially for schools on the east side of town like Chisholm and Redbud.
If your child attends an Edmond School then you will be able to vote in this election. I've attached specific information regarding this election below to highlight the impact throughout the district. This election will help balance the needs of our growing district without impacting tax rates for Edmond homeowners. Also, if approved, this bond is not expected to raise taxes.
Have a great weekend and we hope to see you back in school on Monday!

Vision Screening - Chisholm is scheduled to complete vision screening for students the week of February 26 through March 1. If you do not wish your child be screened during these dates, please fill out and return this opt out form prior to February 26.
Pre-K Lottery Application Period - February 12 through February 26 - If you have a Pre-K student for the 24-25 school year, there is information below how to register for the Pre-K Lottery.
Calling all Substitutes - If you are interested in becoming a substitute, as a classroom teacher or classroom assistant, or even if you want to inquire more about the possibility of becoming a substitute in the future, please click on this link or you can call the school. The district has recently approved some additional incentives ( Subs now get paid twice a month and if you work 6 out of 10 days in a pay period, they can now earn an addition $100 in the pay period).
The order link for the 2023-24 Chisholm Yearbook is also included in this newsletter. The order deadline for purchasing a yearbook won't occur until February or March, but you can take care of this item at this time.

January Smart Social Tip of the Month
Our social media feeds often include the latest challenges which can be a fun way for students and adults to feel connected with their community on social media. Depending on the challenge, they can also be dangerous or harmful. It is important for parents and families to be aware of what’s popular on social media so you can help your student navigate the positives and negatives of these trends. This month’s Smart Social tip includes information about social media challenges and some ideas for how to have these conversations with your students. To access this information, just click on this link: https://smartsocial.com/post/social-media-challenges?org=edmond
And, remember, if you haven’t signed up for Smart Social yet, EPS is providing this resource to all of our families for free for this school year. When you click the link, it’ll prompt you to sign up for your free EPS account. We hope you continue to find this information useful!
