Introducing our Lower Campus Assistant Head of School

Rochelle Lofstrand joined The GLOBE Academy in July as Assistant Head of School at Lower Campus. A graduate of Oxford College and Emory University, Rochelle started her career in education teaching science in Namibia, working with the US Peace Corps. Rochelle earned her Masters in Science Education through Georgia State University, leading to a teaching career in Fulton County as a high school science teacher.

Rochelle is joining us, most recently as an administrator in City Schools of Decatur, where she opened a kindergarten through 3rd grade school in that community. Please say "hi" to Ms. Lofstrand if you see her around campus. We know that she would love to meet you!

Community Circle is back

We are holding our first Community Circle of the 2023/24 school year this Friday. Here is a short clip from one of last year's Community Circles, which are always a big hit with our students here at Lower Campus. The purpose of Community Circle is to bring the whole school together to sing, share, and build community. Be sure to check our Instagram page for pictures and/or video clips of this week's event and remember to ask your children about it after school on Friday.

Join us under the oak tree for the Upper Campus Ice Cream Social. 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the UC parking lot. Parking will be available beginning at 3:45 p.m. at Church In Atlanta, across the street from GLOBE. Wherever you park, please be mindful of CREST.

Introducing our new vendor, Lunch N Things

At the very beginning of this school year, the supplier that GLOBE had secured to provide breakfasts and lunches through 2023/24, did not show. Our original vendor, Simply Elegant, kindly stepped in to provide meals through August, and we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked vigorously to secure a new long-term partnership. On that note, we are delighted to introduce Lunch N Things as our new supplier of breakfasts and lunches, starting in September.

Lunch N Things takes pride in serving quality meals that align with the required USDA guidelines. Meals will be catered to fit the needs of our students including a vegetarian option. The September menu will be available online by the end of the week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at nutrition@theglobeacademy.net.

Meal prices: Breakfast- $2.50 | Lunch- $4.00.

PTCC Officer Elections

Congratulations to Ann Teh, who has been elected PTCC treasurer for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 school years. Our most sincere thanks to Farah Chang, who concluded her term as treasurer this month. We are grateful for Ann and Farah for their volunteerism and for their continued dedication to PTCC.

We are using ReplayIt to collect your photos. We are especially in need of photos taken at GLOBE sporting events. Please submit any photo you take of students in action. Click here to access ReplayIt.

We had a phenomenal number of students attending tryouts last week for our fall sports teams. Boys Soccer had 55 participants, Girls Volleyball 53, Ultimate 28 and Cross Country 22. Teams have been selected and games begin next week.

Thank you to everyone who attended the tryouts and for working hard. To those students that were not selected this time around, please keep training and we would love to see you again in the spring. Finally, a big THANK YOU to our GLOBE families for your support.

Come out to the Back 2 School Blowout soccer games on September 8th to watch the first annual students vs staff challenge. We were full, but there may be some spots left since we had to reschedule. Keep an eye out for how to get involved.

The Annual Fund 2023-2024 Challenge

Thank you to all who have donated thus far. The current leaderboards for LC and UC can be seen by clicking on the image.

Every year, each classroom competes to see who will reach 100% participation first in the Annual Fund Challenge. The suggested donation is $400 per student, however, gifts of any amount count and help us reach our goal of $150,000. The class at each campus with the highest participation rate by September 1, 2023 wins a popsicle party and a surprise for each student. Donate here.
