A Message from the Principal
With the unpredictable cold, rainy, or snowy weather, we find ourselves inside most of January and February. Quality family time can include learning opportunities. When watching a movie, turn on closed captioning. This allows young students to match spoken words with written words. Playing board games is a great way to teach good sportsmanship and how to take turns. Many games emphasize reading and counting as well. While in the car, have children find road signs with all of the letters of the alphabet. This game was my family's favorite, although we frequently skipped Q, X, and Z. Learning does not always have to be formal, it can also be fun!
Decatur Proud,
Mrs. Pearson, Principal

E= Events: We cannot control things that happen
R= Response: We can control our response to the event
O=Outcome: Having a proper response will get the desired outcome.
This concept is powerful for all of us. Daily, many things happen that are out of our control. We can lash out or we can pause, think, and then respond. Pausing for reflection allows us to get the outcome that we need and want.
