Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
Wednesday seems to be the day for wild weather lately! We’re so glad that we were able to finish our family teacher conferences on Wednesday evening and wrap up our winter conference week. Thank you for being flexible and working with us to have a safe delayed start to our school day. The sun was shining and we had a wonderful day of learning and playing outside together.
Our winter conferences were a huge success, with close to 95% of families participating. We know that strong school and family partnerships are essential for student success. If you were unable to attend, or would like to continue the conversation with your child’s teacher, please reach out to them! At Eagle Crest the door is always open!
Have a wonderful long weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda
PS- When we return to school on Tuesday, the date will be 2/22/22 and we will be celebrating this momentous date with special activities, lessons, and surprise treats! Thank you to our PTO for helping to sponsor this fun event!

Dean of Students Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
One of the organizations that is really important to me is the Hispanic Education Foundation of Longmont. With an all volunteer Board of Directors, we focus on creating equity in higher education by providing scholarships for graduates of the St. Vrain Valley School District. Each year we provide 15 new scholarships for seniors and renew scholarships to any student that reapplies. While we do not exclusively provide scholarships only to Hispanic students, we strive to identify students of color, first-generation college students, students who have worked to overcome adversity in their lives, and those who aspire to contribute to their family and community.
If you are able, I would love for you to support the work we do! Next Wednesday, February 23rd, there will be a Chipotle Fundraiser Night at the north Longmont location. Thirty-three percent of the evenings sales 5pm-9pm will benefit HEF scholarships. Additionally, our biggest fundraiser of the year is a Golf Tournament on June 3rd, 2022 at the Saddleback Golf Course in Firestone, CO. Registration for that event will open soon!
If you would like to learn more about the Hispanic Education Foundation, please check out their website or reach out to me personally!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students

PTO Update
Dear Eagle Crest Families ,
Did you know this school year PTO has funded nearly $18,000 worth of educational programs, guest speakers, enrichment items, field trips and much more? Our biggest fundraiser of the year Laps for Leadership is coming back Thursday, April 28th with spectators allowed! We are sharing more info next month about our new online platform that will make donating and sharing our fun run info with family and friends even easier.
A huge thank you to all of the families who purchased meals and snacks for our hardworking ECES staff during conferences. It was greatly appreciated by everyone!
Yearbook orders are due March 18th. We do not order extra yearbooks to sell, so please place your order today! If you're interested in learning more about the PTO, subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Facebook!
Have a great week,

Mwebaza Sister School Update
What’s happening with our partnership in Uganda!
On Wednesday March 9th, Mwebaza Annex and Eagle Crest Elementary will be connecting together on a zoom call. All classes at Eagle Crest will join the call from their classrooms. Each school will have 15 minutes to do a short presentation. The Mwebaza Annex Club at Eagle Crest will be talking, singing and reciting part of an Amanda Gorman poem. All students at Eagle Crest have been learning the US and Uganda versions of “This Land is Your Land” and will be singing the song to Mwebaza Annex. After the presentations there will be some time for questions and answers from each school. The students at Mwebaza Annex are excited to participate in our first ever Mwebaza Day celebration between partner schools!
Later in the day 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be working on their Pen Pal Projects that will be brought to Uganda later in March. K, 1st and 2nd will be working on theirs in the spring.
One of the projects being done in Uganda in March will be to have students at Mwebaza Annex work on similar Pen Pal Projects and those will be brought back to Eagle Crest in April.
On January 29th the Eagle Crest Mwebaza Annex Club ran the concession stand at the Robotics Competition that was held at Eagle Crest. Students worked hard all day selling snacks and pizza. All funds raised went toward the project of building a well at Mwebaza Annex with the goal of access to clean water for the school and local community. Here are a few pictures of that fun event!
