🎨 Our Garden Logo & Name

As a result of the learners' vote, "Lee Garden gurus" with the logo shown in the picture above was selected. Congratulations to Pranada, P5! It is a fantastic design, and I love the peaceful impression. Her work got 52 out of 94 votes, 55.3 % of the total. The second place, " Windmill Garden," earned 13 responses, 13.8% of the total.

Before the learners' vote, the teachers' vote selected the top five out of 26 designs. They all are great work, and I love their ideas and creativity.

I believe creation is the expression of one's life and its uniqueness. You need to go down deep to yourself and know what you want to create in this world. Please respect others' works of art, the fruits of their efforts.

Some learners did the garden work, such as planting, harvesting, and composting in the sustainability project of the Design & Create classes. Some visited the garden during their class time or recess.

That would be wonderful if you could share what you found, learned, and wondered about in the garden with others.

Varieties of Vegetables

Purple Kale, Mizuna, Arugula, Spinach, Lettuce, Radish, Garlic, Onion, and Marigold keep growing in the bed. They were and will be served in the cafeteria.

Transplanted Money Plants into the Pots

We transplanted the money plants into the pots during recess. They are growing in the garden now.

Composting - Pictures Wanted!

We make compost using vegetable scraps and fall leaves from the cafeteria & teachers' homes.

I was too busy to take a picture when composting. I would appreciate photos and videos!

🌎 Prepare for the Earthfest at Coppell

We will participate in the Earthfest at Biodiversity Education Center, 367 Freeport Parkway Coppell, on April 30th, 11:00 - 1:00. Mrs. Shaner and Mrs. Shannon plan many great activities for our booth, and we will also present our garden activities. We plan to provide plants in self-watering pots to the public. They are growing well so far!

Please sign up to join our booth at the Earthfest if you are interested. It will be a fun event, and you will learn so much there!

🦋 Monarchs are Coming to Our Garden!

We have more than ten milkweeds in our flower garden, and I found Monarchs flying and laying eggs on the leaves. It is a great time to observe Monarchs in our area. I posted the photos on iNaturalist, and two other people recognized my observation.

Let's find eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis, and adult Monarchs in our garden! We will also soon start a new Native Monarch Garden near the lower grader's playground.
