SWAL Math Contest Medalists
Wednesday, #PointerNation's Middle and High School Math Teams traveled to Boscobel for the annual SWAL Math Contest and came home with some medals!
At the high school level, five students from each division compete both individually and as a team. Students take three individual tests as well as one team test. For the team contest, an individual average is calculated and the team test score is added to this average to get each division's overall score. Our Algebra 1 team placed 2nd, the Geometry team placed 3rd, and the Advanced Algebra team placed 3rd!
For individual awards, one gold, one silver, and one bronze are awarded (unless there are ties) in each division.
This year, eight of our Mathletes earned these honors, including:
-- Algebra 1: Ethan Hook - Gold and Olivia Wilson - Bronze
-- Geometry: Colton Dochnahl - Silver
-- Advanced Algebra: Bobby Allbright - Gold and Regan Schuette - Bronze
-- Pre-Calc: Cole Ferrell - Bronze and Jared Wedig - Bronze
-- Calculus: Drew Hottenstein - Silver
At the middle school level, kudos go out to:
Gold: Kalea Biddick and Carson Schroeder
Silver: Henry Allbright, Faye Schuette, Ryley Ogurek, and Johnathon Robinson
Bronze: Alyssa Jones, Madelyn Steffes, Payton Christopher, and Lucy Paynter

Kind Kids Campaign
In December, 2nd graders hosted a school-wide holiday store. Mrs. Gorgen’s class chose to donate its earnings to two extremely important places in our community, the Mineral Point Fire Department and the Mineral Point Rescue Squad.
From the store, each department will receive $300. Said the class, "It would be so amazing if we could give even more. Here’s what we’re thinking. Would anyone like to join us in donating to one or both of these valuable components of our town? Our class would be grateful for any amount you can give."
Please send/drop off checks or cash at the Elementary School (611 Cothern St.) made out to Mineral Point Schools (Attn: Denise Gorgen). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Gorgen at denise.gorgen@mp.k12.wi.us.
Thanks for your kindness and generosity.
