Attention Drivers - Put Cell Phones Away!
As you know, it is illegal in Illinois to use a cell phone in a school zone. Parents, please, upon approaching the school, put your cell phone away! Unfortunately, we are seeing an uptick in dangerous driving behaviors due to drivers having a cell phone in their hands. Please keep our students and staff safe by driving safely - cell phone free.

PTO Meeting Recording
If you were unable to join us for the PTO meeting, we encourage you to watch the recording of our New Business discussion including the proposed budget for 2022-23, an overview of the revision to our Bylaws, and the slate for next year’s officers and chairpersons. If you have feedback, please share it with the Exec Board by May 11, so we can update the documents as appropriate and share amended versions with the membership in a timely manner before the vote. A vote to confirm these items will take place at our last meeting on May 18 at 9:30 am in the Jr. High Cafeteria. Coffee/tea & breakfast pastries will be served…please join us!
Committee Chairs Needed
We are still looking for chairpeople for Family Fest and the Sustainability committee. Please help us ensure we can continue all our programming next year! Contact Lynsey Wolfe if you are interested.
- Family Fest is the perfect job for anyone who likes to have summer fun! This event could look the same as it has in the past (carnival-style family party) or you could reimagine it. Perhaps a back-to-school block party with food trucks or a 5k fun walk/run!
- The Sustainability Committee helps coordinate sustainability projects at OGS such as recycling awareness in the lunchroom, recycling drop off programs and/or an Earth Day family event.

Superintendent, Principal and Asst. Principal For The Day!
Last week, the administration enjoyed a day with the Bilcox sisters - Claire, Finley, and Elizabeth - as they were introduced to their Foundation Gala experience as Principals and Superintendent for a Day. Their adventure included monitoring a whole school fire drill, delivering appreciation treats, eating with the staff from the PTO’s taco bar, listening to a website focus group of students, reading to the kindergarten classes, and meeting with the OGS school board president. As can be seen through the pictures, the Bilcox sisters found out that working at Oak Grove is the BEST job in the whole wide world!
Oak Grove School Education Foundation
The Oak Grove School Education Foundation (OGSEF) is a non-profit volunteer organization run by parents, teachers, and administrators. OGSEF funds teacher-initiated grants and programs focused on engaging, empowering, and inspiring students to advance to new levels of learning.
8th Grade Parents and Families - as we countdown the last weeks of school, think about giving a lasting gift by purchasing an inscribed paver for the elementary playground! This is an excellent graduation gift to commemorate your child's years at OGS or say thanks to a particular person, or group of teachers/friends.
Visit our website at ogsef.org and place your order today and check out some prior examples. All funds from our paver campaign support OGSEF's mission. You will be informed once the pavers are engraved and installed.
