Eagle Eye - March 2023
Middle/High School Community Update
Eagle Pride
Our Eagle Pride committee is continually seeking ways to encourage respect, responsibility and pride in all we do. We have utilized the Eagle Pride cards and reward system for many years now to highlight times that we see positive behavior among our students. An idea we are planning to implement in March is called a "Backstage Pass." essentially each staff member will have a "pass" with their name on it and tucked in a holder with a lanyard. Each staff member is to give their backstage pass to one student during the week when they see a student displaying positive Eagle Pride behaviors. The student can then wear the pass for the week and be recognized, but also each pass will contain a coupon for a school reward, and/or a community reward (great thanks to our many local businesses for all the support!) Ask your student about their backstage experience!

Conferences/End of Quarter 3
Schoology
One of the best ways to track your students academic progress is through Schoology. Schoology is our online Learning Management System for providing digital learning activities, course content, as well as an ongoing tracking of student progress toward standard proficiency. You can login to your students Schoology parent access portal using the your email address and password. If you need your login information please contact the school. The system is setup to send each parent an email at 3:00 on Monday's showing your students progress. When you log in, you can view all the courses your student is enrolled in by clicking "Courses." From there, you can click on the "Grades" for each course and see all content that has been graded/all feedback that has been provided. Please note, the work in Schoology may be considered "practice" or "formative" work - meaning it may be work toward proficiency but not all this practice or formative work is included in the overall course grade.
Daily Announcements
Our daily announcements contain many items for our 6-12 grade students. Parents can view the announcements by clicking on this Link. Announcements are updated by 8:00 AM everyday.
Attendance
Attendance is vitally important to student success. After all, the world is run by those who show up! If your student will be absent, please email attendancemshs@isd177.com, or call the office at 507-831-6910. Did you know you can also request an absence in the Skyward system? In your students portal on Skyward (while in parent view/family access) click on the attendance tab, then click on Request Absence and you can enter the details. Submitting this request sends an instant alert to our office and automatically updates our system.
Absences that are not excused are made up through after school detention. In addition, students who are chronically tardy make up time during lunch or after school should the situation become severe. Students also need to sign in at the office when they arrive late and they need to sign out at the office if leaving for an appointment. Failure to follow sign in/out procedures may result in unexcused absences that do count toward truancy. Excessive absences/tardiness may also result in a Saturday school. We are looking at Saturday, March 18th as a potential 8 AM-12 PM Saturday school make up day. Thank you for your help in supporting your students on-time presence in class!
