May The 4th Be with You!
May 4th, 2023, we had our annual end of the year Banquet and you guessed it, the theme was Star Wars! We had a wonderful time celebrating the accomplishments of our students during this school year and we also had our guest speakers to share with both students and parents. KISS (Keeping Independent Services and Support), SPWA and our friends at BlueLight Studios. We wrapped up our evening with a few student recognitions. Lauren, who is aging out of Northern and the Career Orientation Program, Cara , a senior who stepped up and did amazing on both her on campus and off campus placements and our Employee of The Year! Anusha, who had a phenomenal year with the program. We wish them much success and may the force be with them as they journey upward and on ward!
This school year we were able to expose our students to a few options for post secondary school and part-time, full-time and summer employment. BCIT Adult School, provided our students and their parents with various courses and programs. Lisa Carr, HR Manager from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (MDL), came and shared all the many employment opportunities available on base. Summer is coming and the base is looking for new hires! Stop by the COP office so we can get students started on the application process! On May 31st, we will be taking students to the Construction Expo in Edison, NJ. This is going to be a very exciting and informative trip for our students!
