Field Trip to Riverfront Park
We would like to provide special opportunities for our students to learn outside of the classroom this year with our itinerant teachers.
Our first excursion will be on September 21, 2021 for K - 2 and September 22, 2021 for 3rd - 5th.
Students will travel by bus to the Buckhannon Riverfront Park on Island Avenue. While there, they will have free play, complete an outdoor art project, have a nature walk / scavenger hunt, and play PE outdoor games.
The students will be supervised by Miss Barr - CIS (she was a summer learning teacher), Miss Thome - art teacher, Mr. Brennan - music teacher, Mr. Piacente - PE teacher and our classroom aides. Classroom teachers will work with Mrs. Phillips on using data to plan instruction.
Students will depart on the day of their trip about 8:20 a.m. and will return prior to 11:20 a.m. Lunch will be provided at school on a normal schedule.

LSIC
Currently, Brandi Butcher, parent of a 4th grader, is a representative. We are in need of 2 additional parents to serve on this council. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Phillips. If more than 2 parents volunteer, a ballot will be sent out next week for parents to elect their representatives.
What is LSIC?
It is a West Virginia legislature mandated council to collaborate with administrators and faculty to promote innovations and improvements in the teaching and learning environment in the schools.

REGISTRATION BEGINS TOMORROW FOR HEALTHY GRANDFAMILIES VACCINATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Gov. Justice also offered a reminder that tomorrow – Tuesday, Sept. 7 – marks the beginning of registration for the recently announced Healthy Grandfamilies vaccination incentive program.
The program will provide a $150 voucher for back-to-school supplies to all vaccinated grandfamilies in West Virginia; families where grandparents are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren.
To qualify, all vaccine-eligible members of the grandfamily – including grandparents and grandchildren ages 12 and older – must have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The family must also be enrolled in West Virginia State University’s Healthy Grandfamilies program.
Healthy Grandfamilies – which provides information and resources to grandparents who are raising one or more grandchildren – will assist in the administration of the school voucher incentive. According to the organization, about 19,000 West Virginia children live in households with a grandparent or grandparents as their primary caregiver.
