Jetliner: Virtual Learning
ADAMS CENTRAL ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL UPDATE 10/9/20
Thank You!
Students will be moved to virtual learning from October 12-October 22.
I want to say, “Thank you so much for your understanding and patience.” As I took names on Thursday in the car pickup line I was greeted by 100+ parents and grandparents who were kind and understanding about this decision. Wow! What a testimony to the greatness of our AC families.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions or need support.

Assignments
· Assignments will be posted by 10AM daily October 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22.
· Fall break begins will be Friday, October 23-Monday, October 26. There will not be assignments these days.
· School will resume on Tuesday, October 27.
We understand that family commitments and work schedules do not always align with the school hours of 8AM-3PM making it hard for elementary students to complete assignments. Please communicate clearly with your child’s teacher if you need 1 additional day to complete an assignment.
Assignment completion is directly tied to attendance. It is imperative that ALL assignments are completed well and that the teacher is made aware if a one-day extension is needed.
Chromebook Wi-Fi Access
To connect your student's Chromebook to your home Wi-Fi, simply click the universal Wi-Fi symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen and select your home Wi-Fi. Students will need to log into the Chromebook using their jettech account information. This is the same information your child uses every time they log in at school. *You may need to restart the computer in order to connect with your Wi-Fi.
School Lunches
Free lunches will be made available to all AC enrolled students in grades PreK-12. Pickup will be at the elementary office doors on Tuesday, October 13 from 11AM-1PM. Each student will receive 5 lunches.
COMPLETING ASSIGNED WORK
Encourage your student to view all the instructional materials (videos, readings, etc.) and complete any work that is assigned. Be sure all work is completed as required. This is how attendance will be taken. Use Schoology, email, or Remind to stay in contact with your teacher. Responses to evening contacts may be returned the following day. Develop a system for noting questions until they can be asked (of teacher or parent).
Supporting Virtual Learning
SET UP A ROUTINE AND DEVELOP A LEARNING SPACE
Support your student by creating a time and space for them to learn.
- Ensure the space is specific to learning and free of distractions.
- Distractions could be other children playing, TV, music or loud noises, pets, things happening outside, clutter in the learning space, or electronic devices.
- For elementary students and students in special populations, allow your student input to develop a schedule Develop a visual schedule or use a timer that will help your child stay on task.

STUDENT ADVOCACY AND REQUESTING ASSISTANCE
There may be times when a family member needs support to help the child understand a problem or task. The following questions may help guide a conversation with the teacher.
- Can you suggest ways for me to help?
- How do you usually try and help the students better understand the material?
- Is there a way to break the assignment down more?
