Walkersville High School
Message from the Principal
Dear Walkersville Community,
It has been another great week at WHS. Thanks to everyone who helped make Homecoming a success, from those who coordinated, or donated time or items, we appreciate you! Next week is a regular week for high schools (elementary & middle have altered schedules for conferences). Term one ends October 26th, so please keep up-to-date on grades! Additionally, we are starting to wrap up fall athletics seasons this month, and we will share any playoff information as it comes available. See below for information on registering for winter sports.
Sincerely,

Federal Impact Aid
Dear Parents & Guardians:
Tomorrow your child will receive a paper copy of the 2023 Federal Impact Aid survey for you to complete and return to the school by Friday, November 3, 2023. As was stated in the FindOutFirst email sent by FCPS recently, the purpose of the survey is to collect information from families regarding military service and/or residence or employment on federal property. The Federal Impact Aid survey is administered every year but this year the survey is in paper form.
Why is it important to complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey?
Federal Impact Aid is a Federal education fund that reimburses school districts for lost revenue and additional costs associated with the presence of tax-exempt Federal property including military installations, Federal low-rent housing facilities, national laboratories, and other Federal buildings and lands, etc. Frederick County Public Schools may receive financial assistance from the Federal Government (under Public Law 81-874) based on the number of pupils whose parents/guardians are active in the military or whose parents live or work on federal property in Maryland.
If a parent/guardian is active in the military or lives/works on federal property and has multiple students in Frederick County Public Schools, a survey must be completed for each student.

FCPS and the Frederick County Health Department have announced that they will be enacting a Coaches vs. Overdoses initiative at all 10 high schools during the current football season. Coaches will distribute a Prevention Playbook, which helps parents and students tackle root causes of today’s overdose crisis. At-home drug disposal kits will also be distributed. The effort will take place during October, which is Substance Abuse Prevention Month, and will serve as the local kick-off to National Drug Take Back Day on October 29.
Supervision of Younger Children at WHS Events
This is a reminder that while we love to see our whole community supporting our Lions, children are not permitted to be unsupervised during events. We want our events to be safe, orderly, and allow everyone to focus on cheering our students on. Please ensure that younger children are with adults at all times when visiting WHS. Thank you.
