The Blair Oaks R-II School District Board of Education approved the Blair Oaks 2020-2021 School Year Reopening Plan on Monday, August 3rd. The input of students, parents, and families was critical to the creation of this plan. At this point, we plan to open school on Monday, August 24th. Rest assured that we will do our best to provide a safe learning environment. Feel free to revisit the newsletter and documents detailing Blair Oaks' Reopening Plans and Options.

If you (parents only) have not already done so, please complete the form linked below. This information will be used to plan schedules and meet individual needs accordingly. You will need to fill out a form for EACH INDIVIDUAL STUDENT in your household. We ask that the forms be completed by today, Friday, August 7th. This will give us the time needed to finalize the balancing of classes before registration next week and enroll any students choosing to sign up for virtual courses.

A completed housing questionnaire is required for every student in order for us to be in compliance with federal programs. We would like to handle this short 4-question form electronically. Please take a few minutes to complete the Google form linked below. We appreciate your time!

Josh Bischoff, a senior at Blair Oaks High School, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Two of his siblings are a match. Josh and family will be going to St Louis Children’s Hospital at the end of August for the procedure. They will be in St. Louis roughly 6 months while Josh's body recovers. Then, Josh will be home bound for another 3 months. The recovery process will take around 9 months to 1 year. His mother, Tina Bischoff (a mother of 6), is taking a leave from work as a preschool teacher in order to care for Josh. This fundraiser will help the family with bills, travel, and the cost of staying in St Louis. Thank you very much for your order and support of the Bischoff family!

The tailgate event is for those who pre-purchased tickets to attend.

However, anyone can register to participate in the online silent auction.

Blair Oaks Athlete and Parent Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, August 9th, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. All athletes in grades 9-12 and their parents are welcome to attend. Athletes who are new to Blair Oaks' athletics and their parents are highly encouraged to attend. Athletes and parents will be introduced to various requirements and procedures involved in the athletic programs throughout the school year.

Blair Oaks will not be hosting the football jamboree that was previously scheduled for Friday, August 21st.

Registration for returning students and pre-enrolled students:

8/11, Tuesday – 11th & 12th Grade, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

8/12, Wednesday – 9th & 10th Grade, 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

• Please bring check for fees due of $55.00.
  If student does not park on campus, total fee is $50.00.
  Fee includes: $25 Class Dues, $25 Chromebook Fee, $5 Parking
• Lunch deposits may be paid by a separate check.
  
• Please be prepared to pay by check with your student's name written in the comments.

Please visit the BHS Student Handbook that will be linked to the high school website and take time to familiarize yourself with it. Parent and student signatures will be requested on a Student Policy & Procedures Verification Form at registration agreeing to adhere to the requirements as stated in the handbook policies and procedures. If you do not plan to attend registration with your student, please print and send the signed form with them.

Once fees are paid, students will receive a copy of their schedule. Students may visit the following stations as needed: Counselors, School Nurse, Chromebook Pick-Up, Yearbook Ordering, and Lunch Payment Station. We ask each family to observe social distancing practices that will be set in place. Please feel free to tour our building during registration and walk through your student's class schedule.

Student's locker & parking space numbers will be printed on their schedule. Please check to be sure the automobile information is accurate. Students are required to park in their assigned space at all times. Our parking lot will be very full. Please make sure your has located that space before the first day of school.

Yearbooks for 2019-2020 will not be received in time to be distributed during registration. Be watching this newsletter for the August delivery date announcement.

Yearbooks for 2020-2021 can be ordered online or during registration. If ordered now, the early bird purchase price is $30.00. If yearbook is purchased online, additional items may be added (i.e. clear protective cover, photo pockets, etc.).

Freshman Orientation/Parent Information Night will follow registration on Wednesday, August 12th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Blair Oaks High School Gymnasium. We will start serving ice cream at 6:00 p.m. This event is for freshmen and their parents. During the meeting, any and all questions from students and/or parents will be answered. The desired result of the orientation is a smooth and successful transition into high school for every student.

This is something new this year! We would love to invite you to our "Meet the teacher night!" We have staggered the times in case you have students in other buildings. We are so excited to get this year started!
