Happy Birthday to the Church
On the day of Pentecost, which we celebrated yesterday, we witness the birth of the Church. The Apostles, who had been hiding in the Upper Room, were given the gift of the Holy Spirit, and they came out of hiding and began to tell everyone about Jesus. The Holy Spirit gave the Apostles the gift of speaking in tongues, so that all the people who were assembled on that feast day in Jerusalem could hear about Jesus in their own language. The Apostles were also given the gift of courage and the gift of wisdom.
From that day until now, countless Catholics have continued to evangelize, to witness to Jesus by word and example. All of us are called to follow in the footsteps of the Apostles, who not only helped to found the Church that day but eventually gave their lives to witness to Jesus. May we continue to seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives and embrace the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
A Prayer for the Feast of Pentecost
Spirit of Christ, stir me;
Spirit of Christ, move me;
Spirit of Christ, seal me.
Consecrate in me Your Heart and Will,
O Heavenly Father.
Create in me a fountain of virtues.
Seal my soul as Your own,
that Your reflection in me may be a light for all to see.
Amen.
A Prayer for Memorial Day
Heavenly Father,
as we look toward this year’s Memorial Day,
we pray for those who courageously laid down their lives
for the cause of freedom.
May the example of their sacrifice
inspire in us the selfless love of your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Bless the families of our fallen troops,
and fill their homes and their lives with your strength and peace.
In union with people of goodwill of every nation,
embolden us to answer the call to work for peace and justice,
and thus, seek an end to violence and conflict around the globe.
We pray through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Home and School Update
Home and School Weekly Update:
As we wind down another school year, the Home and School Association would like to thank the faculty and staff for all of their time and effort in making this year a success for our school children. We hope that you enjoy the summer ahead, and we look forward to another school year! To our parents - we could not have accomplished all that we did this year without you. The gift of time of time and volunteerism is truly invaluable and we are appreciative of each and every parent who helped out with lunch duty, H and S events, or served as a homeroom parent. There are too many parents to name for individual thanks, but please know that your generosity goes a long way, and we are truly grateful.
For those of you that attended our last General Assembly meeting, you may recall that Bridget Schmitz, our wonderful 7th and 8th dance chair, was the winner of the $250 Flynn & O’Hara gift card giveaway. As Bridget has an 8th grade graduate this year, she generously donated the gift card back to H&S! With that in mind, a new winner was drawn…a big congratulations goes out to Rob Pearson, Dad to Sophie (1st grade) and Cole (Prek3). Rob’s commitment to helping at our H&S events this year was very much appreciated. Bridget and Rob, we thank you both for your commitment and service to our school!
Field Day is June 5. At this time, we have secured enough parent volunteers for the day. Thank you to all of those parents who have generously volunteered time on that day!
Lunch Duty clarification - Please note that June 2 and June 8 are HALF DAYS of school. If you have signed up for either of those days, we thank you but will not need coverage on those days. Thank you!
