ACTIVE EVENT CALENDAR for all schools (click off any you don't use)

SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM STILL GOING ON UNTIL THURSDAY, JULY 25

It is not too late to get free breakfast and lunch each weekday between now and Thursday, July 25th for your children at Edgewood Primary School. Adults are $1.65 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch. ALL children are free, so if you have cousins in town head on over.


Breakfast Time: 9:30 - 10:00 a.m.
Lunch Time: 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. Click here for the menu (Please note that the menu still has Friday, July 26th listed, but the lunch program does end on the 25th.)

A NOTE FROM THE DISTRICT NURSE

Please be sure to update your child's medical information during registration and notify the building's Health Aide and teacher(s) of any life threatening health issues.

Parents should also have their child's updated vaccination records on file at his/her school.

2019-2020 Registration Information

Secretaries are available to answer phones and make appointments starting Friday, July 26*. EHS will start taking calls Tuesday, July 23.


If your email information needs to be updated before registration, you will need to call your child's school to do this.


New students to RBBCSC need to be registered at their school building during school hours starting on Friday, July 26th.


Returning students to RBBCSC: Parents need to log into their Family Harmony Account and register each of their children by scrolling down to the Demographic section and completing each document. Fees can also be paid online.


Parents may log into Harmony on the following day or after:

EPS & EIS: Wednesday, July 31

EJHS: Monday, July 29

EHS: Tuesday, July 23


School fees will NOT be available for EJHS & EHS until after registration closes. Fees are dependent on the classes the students are enrolled in.

Teacher Placement & Schedules

Teacher placement for EPS/EIS students is done about a week before school starts. Administrators must wait until registration is complete so they can make necessary adjustments. Parents will be notified through email letting them know of their child's placement. Please note that if a teacher assignment is showing when you go to register in Harmony, that it could very likely change.


Schedules for EJHS students will be available at the end of the day Friday, August 2nd in Harmony.

Schedules for EHS students will be available Monday, August 5th in Harmony.

Late-Start Wednesdays - starts 8/14

Starting Wednesday, August 14th and for the remaining Wednesdays of the school year, RBBCSC school will operate on a late-start schedule. All buildings will open 30 minutes later than their regularly scheduled start times to allow staff to collaborate and receive additional training to better serve all RBBCSC students. Please see the note about 2 hour delays that might occur on a Wednesday.

2 Hour Delay Schedule

RBBCSC operates on a 2 hour delay whenever inclement weather or hazardous road conditions exist. Parents that are signed up to receive calls (in Harmony) will get a robo call recording letting them know of the delay and the reason. Please note: all RBBCSC schools operate exactly 2 hours later than their regularly scheduled start times during a 2 hour delay. A 2 hour delay OVERRIDES a late start Wednesday, meaning the day will start 2 hours later and not 2.5 hours later than a regularly scheduled day.


The district also notifies radio stations, changes the stoplight on the webpage to a yellow, and posts on the district's Facebook page whenever there is a delay or cancellation.

Transportation

Bus information will be emailed out the week before school starts. Transportation information can also be updated in Harmony at Registration.


If you have questions, please call our Transportation Office at 812-876-8537.


If your email information needs to be updated before registration, you will need to call your child's school to do this.


It is important that all information in Harmony is updated through-out the year! It is crucial that addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contact information is correct through-out the school year.


Parents who have a child who will NOT be picked-up/dropped-off at their residence will need to fill out an Alternative Address form at the school.


Parents of EPS/EIS students, please make sure your child's teacher KNOWS in writing how your child will go home the first several days of school, as it often changes until a routine has been established. Many teachers have a form for this at open house, but it helps to have this information ready or sent in the first day of school.


Parents who plan to drop-off/pick-up their children will need to inquire at the school to see what the procedures are. Each school is different. The directions for EPS & EIS are below in the section about dismissal being late the first few days of school.

Volunteer Background Checks

At RBBCSC it is our policy to have ALL visitors who enter the school buildings during school hours to have their background checks ran EACH school year.


Please complete this document for EACH adult family member who will be doing any of the following: visiting the classroom, eating lunch with your child, field trips, and any special school events (like Breakfast Buddies, Veterans' Day, and award ceremonies to name a few).


Those who do not pass the background check will not be able to enter the buildings - and will be notified by school personnel.

Dress Code

Before you head out to buy back-to-school clothing, please keep the RBBCSC dress code in mind. It is in the school handbooks, but also available here.

Please note: dismissal will run late at EPS/EIS on the first few days of school.

Although the schools will take extra time to get students ready for dismissal (checking, double, & triple checking their dismissal notes), it will take time to make sure EVERY student is dismissed to their correct mode of transportation. Please be patient and look for Facebook posts announcing when the buses have left the buildings. Times will get better daily, and students will fall into the routines established very quickly.

Please NOTE:
* Parents who will be dropping-off or picking-up at EPS/EIS, please review this document.


* Please let your child(ren)'s teacher(s) know how your child will go home everyday for the first 2 weeks and even a typical schedule once you know it. (For instance, some students' routes will change once Boys & Girls Club re-opens for the school year on Monday, Aug. 12.)


* Please only call the schools with changes to transportation before 2 p.m. (standard procedure). The phones will be very busy those first few days, so please have patience. Letting your child's teacher know ahead of time will save you and the office time. Please DO NOT send emails to your child's teacher about transportation changes. There is a good chance he/she will not be able to check email during the school day.

FREE BREAKFAST FOR ALL RBBCSC STUDENTS THIS YEAR!

Starting this school year, all students at RBBCSC have the option of receiving a free breakfast each school day that breakfast is offered. Breakfast is not served on days that a 2 hour delay is in effect. For more information, please stay tuned for an email from Vickie Coffey, our Nutrition Service Director, explaining all things nutrition services related.

Apply for FREE/REDUCED Meals

Even if you're not sure you will qualify, be sure to apply for Free or Reduced meals for your child(ren) when you register in Harmony. This application needs to be completed ASAP. If you have any questions, please contact Vickie Coffey at vcoffey@rbbschools.net or at 812-876-7100.

Pay Ahead!

Students can always bring their own lunch, but if you prefer your child to eat a hot lunch, make sure you pay ahead on the MySchoolBucks.com site. Once your child is registered in Harmony, go to this site and create an account. You can set it so that it will auto-refill when the account is low. Returning students do not need to create a new account. Payment for meals must be made in advance.

MEET OUT NEW EECC DIRECTOR!

I'm thrilled to join R-BB as Preschool Coordinator and Assistant Director of High Ability Education after seven years at Binford Elementary in Bloomington. My work there as a fourth grade teacher culminated in the 2017 Lilly Teacher Creativity Grant and the 2019 Educator of the Year award from the Franklin Initiative. In addition to teaching, I've served as a local preschool camp director for fifteen years and spent a decade as a children's ministry director, as well. My wife Leah and I are the proud parents of a Mustang, a Colt, and an Eagle: Ellie (15), Benjamin (12), and Rowan (10).

Boys & Girls Club of Ellettsville Has Moved Locations!

The Boys and Girls Club moved out of the EIS building to the EECC building in July. They will continue to provide afterschool programming in their new space starting Monday, August 12. In the past they would close for staff training the first 2 weeks of the school year. To better serve families, they will only be closed during the weeks of Aug. 5-9 -- which is only the first 3 school days for students. Families that regularly use the Club and have their children registered will need to find alternative childcare afterschool the first 3 days.


PLEASE LET YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER KNOW HOW HE/SHE SHOULD BE DISMISSED THOSE 3 DAYS IF THEY ATTEND EPS or EIS.


If you are interested in registering your child with the Boys and Girls Club, please call or visit their information tables during Open House times on Tuesday, August 6th at both EPS and EIS.

MEET OUR NEW EIS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Hello, my name is Andy Scholl, and I am beyond excited to be an Eagle! I received my BS from Indiana State University, and my M.Ed. from Indiana Wesleyan University. I previously taught 7th grade social studies and coached girls' basketball for eleven years at Hauser Jr/Sr High School, in Hope, IN. I then began my administrative career as the assistant principal at Edinburgh HS/MS for two years, followed by the most recent four years serving as the principal at East Side Elementary, in Edinburgh. EIS is an amazing school that is doing incredible things for children. As a parent of two RBB students, I have been beyond impressed by the care, dedication, and engagement my children have encountered from both the teachers and staff. I am excited to be able to use my experience with engaging families from a variety of different backgrounds to help build on the academic successes RBB has enjoyed for many years.


To share a little about myself, I live here in Ellettsville with my wife, Kelly, our two children, Holly (10) and Hudson (8), and our bernedoodle, Crosley. We moved here from Greenwood two years ago after Kelly (a former physics teacher) was hired by IU to help faculty with their teaching. We chose RBB based on our desire to be a part of a community that feels like family, and that feeling has been prevalent from day one.


Kelly and I both enjoy visiting different baseball stadiums and have been to over half of the current major league parks. As a family we love to travel, and when we are not busy, we enjoy working on remodeling projects on the fixer-upper we bought west of town. I'm excited to get started, and I look forward to working with you and your children and continuing to become part of this wonderful community. Back-to-School Night: Tuesday, August 13th from 6:30 - 8 pm.This is an opportunity for parents to come to EJHS and meet teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff.

The building will not be open to students and families except for Monday evening.

MEET OUR NEW EHS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Welcome back, I am Chad Musselwhite and I have been a math teacher here at Edgewood High School for the past 17 years. I have served as the Math Department Chair for the past 10 years and have coached many different sports here at Edgewood. My family lives in Ellettsville and we absolutely love this community. My wife Erica teaches at the Junior High School, my daughter Alice will be stating the 3rd Grade at EIS and my son Jack will be stating 1st grade at EPS. I earned my undergraduate degree from Indiana State University. I then received my masters degree from Indiana Wesleyan University which is also where I got my Administrative licence. I am excited to start my new role as High School Assistant Principal and continue to work with students and families within the community.
