High-school Information
Check back for updates!
Hello Pathfinder Families and 8th Graders!
A.S.B. President and 8th grade student, Conor Delcamp, has partnered to create important information for our 8th grade scholars moving on to High School. Please check out The Spreadsheet in conjunction with the information below to support you in transitioning to High School!
Dear SPS Students and Families,
The deadline for indicating interest in virtual courses for the 2022-23 school year has been extended to Tuesday, May 31st. In addition, we have added four new courses to the survey we sent out last week.
Seattle Public Schools has a new way for our students to access courses in Ethnic Studies, Black Studies, and American Indian Studies in the 2022-23 school year. SPS will offer virtual classes in the morning that allow students to take courses in these areas no matter where they are in the district. There is also the possibility of virtual courses in LGBTQIA+ studies and world languages. Read the course descriptions.
Expanded access to these courses is critical to our racial equity work and the commitment we have made to our community – particularly our students of color furthest from educational justice and their families – to offer Ethnic Studies, Black Studies, and American Indian Studies.
Students who are interested in taking one of these virtual courses in the 2022-23 school year, should complete the interest survey by no later than Tuesday, May 31st.
We look forward to hearing from your student and sharing more details once we get this important feedback. Please note that expressing interest in these courses does not guarantee students will be able to enroll in them. We will make every effort to include interested students, but we will not know if the requested virtual course fits with their schedule until the end of the summer.
If you have questions about these courses, please email ccr@seattleschools.org.
What is my feeder/neighborhood high school?
Start here by finding out what your neighborhood/feeder school is. Check out the map to help you visualize your neighborhood school, as well as all other choice schools near you.
Is this the best high school for me?
Do some research about your neighborhood school. What classes do they offer? What extracurriculars are you interested in? What sports/clubs are offered at this school?
If my neighborhood school is not the best, what are my high school choice options?
What are you looking for in a high school? Is a smaller school better for you? What courses do they offer? What are the benefits of attending a choice school?
Remember!
- Attend one of the Open Houses available for each school! This will help you gain more insight into what makes each school unique, and help you decide where to go.
- If you decide that your neighborhood school isn’t the best fit, you will need to fill out the Student Choice Form (also attached) once open enrollment begins on February 1st. Make sure your contact information is updated on The Source (this is how the district will contact you).
