Principal's Corner
Report cards went home yesterday, Thursday October 12! This nine weeks is very important, because it is the last nine weeks of the 1st semester classes. Please monitor your child's grades and help him/her stay on task. Please request a parent teacher conference if you have questions or concerns.
Homecoming week is approaching quickly. We would love to see all the FamiLEE Alumni, student, and parents to come support. This will be an exciting week. The homecoming game will be Friday, October 27, 2023 at Milton Frank at 7:00p.m.

It's Free College Application Week!
Alabama College Application Week 2023 runs from Monday, October 16 through Friday, October 20. Colleges and Universities have officially waived their application fees to allow Alabama seniors to submit applications to their institutions at no cost. Apply directly through each college/university's website.
A list of participating Colleges/Universities with waiver codes is available for students in each high school counseling department.

Federal Impact Aid Survey
Huntsville City Schools is asking eligible families to complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey Form electronically starting October 12, 2023, through October 26, 2023. Spanish Versions of the form are available at each school. Impact Aid provides school districts with additional federal dollars to help support resources in classrooms.
Who is Eligible to Complete the Impact Aid Form?
Parents/Guardians who work/live on Redstone Arsenal or other federal properties.
Parents/Guardians on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Parents/Guardians who live in federal/public housing communities.
How to Complete Impact Aid Form Electronically?
Login to the Parent Portal in the PowerSchool app or through the PowerSchool website (https://huntsvillecs.powerschool.com/public/).
Click on Forms, then click on Huntsville City Impact Aid.
A form should be completed for each student attending Huntsville City Schools.
Spanish version of the form is available at each school.
How to set up an Account in PowerSchool?
Parent/Guardian can create an account by following these steps:
Go to https://huntsvillecs.powerschool.com/public/ to get to the "Student and Parent Sign In" page:
1. Click the Create Account Tab.
2. Click Create Account.
3. Enter your first name, last name, and email address.
4. Enter the student's name, access ID, and access password, and the parent’s relationship to the student (access ID and access password is provided by the school).
5. Click Enter.
6. Once the account is created, follow the above directions on how to complete Impact Aid Form electronically.
Need to Request a Spanish Version of the Impact Aid Form?
If a parent/guardian needs a Spanish version, copies are available at each school.
Deadline to Complete Impact Aid Form?
Impact Aid Forms are due by Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Vocal Magnet Director- Ms. Daniel
This Week we are preparing for our All City and All State Festivals.
We are honored to have Miriam Bentley, Timothy Perkins, Leeya Shoulders to represent Lee High School in the Outstanding Choral Student Auditions. We are also preparing for our Fall Festival on Saturday. Our Trouveres are working weekly on preparing for our first Show Choir performance which will be in December.
Instrumental Director- Mr. Pearson
This week, we began our String Program! We are so thankful to have Ms. Lily Anderson, String Instructor at the Maitland Music Conservatory. String Class is every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Dance Magnet Director- Mrs. Hunkapillar-
This week the dancers are continuing in their groups and working on the choreography projects for the Fall Dance Concert, “Ignite the Fire”. The dancers will have a performance test on their projects next Friday, Oct. 20 during class.
The dates for the concert are November 16 and 17 at 7:00 pm. Tech week begins on November 13 at 4:00 pm. I will be sending out a detailed rehearsal/performance expectations sheet in the next few weeks.
Creative Writing Magnet Director- Ms. Sisson
The authors just finished up their PTSA Reflections contest pieces on Thursday. We are continuing to work to gather art and literary pieces for the literary magazine. The authors are going to the Huntsville Museum of Art on Tuesday to see Ginny Ruffner’s exhibition. Here’s a preview of what the authors are in store for:

Visual Arts Magnet Directors- Mrs. Johnson and Ms. Radowski
Vis Art I- Working on landscape paintings, paying attention to back, mid and foreground and the layering process for painting. (sent pics via text)
Vis Art II - Sculpting clay Dia De Los Muertos skulls (clay sugar skulls)
AP studio art: Students are working on their AP portfolio work. They are currently developing their Sustained Investigation piece number two for their portfolio. Students are encouraged to develop questions to guide their inquiry for their portfolio. They are to experiment throughout the creative process and make sure their creative decisions relate back to their main concepts.
VA Magnet 3:
VA Magnet 3 are working on developing figure drawing skills. Over the next week or so they will be participating in a variety of figure drawing activities to develop their technical skill. Students are also working on their Dia de los Muertos honorary ceramic skulls. Students are developing 3-d skills and anatomical sculpting skills.
