EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to this week's Educator of the Week, Ms. Yvonne O'Brien. Ms. O'Brien is one of our talented Math teachers at the MHS.
Since joining the team at MHS in 2006, Ms. O'Brien has been a stellar educator in the classroom and has worked hard to always improve the culture of the entire school. She is a friendly face who works well with her students as well as with her peers. She is always someone you can count on if you need any type of assistance.
Kristin Reid, one of the MHS Assistant Principals, said it best when she noted, "Yve goes the extra mile to make sure that she is meeting the needs of all students in her classes. She shares her passion and enthusiasm for math with each and every student. Yve is committed to creating a positive learning community at MHS, both within her classroom and throughout the entire school."
We are so fortunate to have Ms. O'Brien teaching math at the MHS and we congratulate her for being named our Educator of the Week!!
SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH SURVEY
The Marshfield School Committee and the Superintendent Search Committee are underway with the search process to hire a new Superintendent for the Marshfield Public Schools, and they want to gather feedback from stakeholders across the District.
You are encouraged to take a moment to fill out the survey at this link:
This survey is open to any parent/guardian, student, staff member, or Marshfield resident. Responses will be accepted until Friday, November 10, at which point they will be reviewed by the Search Committee.
As stakeholders in the present and future of our public education, your input is valued and important to us. Your responses will help us best identify what the community is seeking in our next educational leader, and will better inform the process to ensure we select the best possible finalists to succeed Superintendent Granatino.
Thank you for your time and your continued partnership in our mission to serve every student, every day, whatever it takes.
Sincerely,
Sean Costello
Chair, MPSD School Committee
POINTS & PINTS FOR PATRICK
The 2nd Annual Points & Pints for Patrick fundraiser and blood drive was a huge success last weekend. Thank you to all who helped make it such a special event.
As Andrea Robbins, one of the key organizers of this event, noted in her post, "Another great 3v3 tournament as part of Points & Pints for Patrick. 29 teams, from elementary school to teams from the Marshfield Fire Department and Marshfield Police Department. Lots of blood donated and funds raised for the Bone Marrow Failure Program at Boston Children's Hospital. All in honor of our guy Patrick McLaughlin who continues his fight against Aplastic Anemia."

HOMEWORK FREE VETERANS DAY WEEKEND
While we are still a month away, I wanted to let you know that once again, in honor of Veterans Day, the Marshfield Public Schools will be Homework Free over the Veterans Day weekend.
We started this tradition eight years ago and going “homework free”, in conjunction with Veterans Day has been greatly appreciated by students and staff, our families and, most importantly, our Veterans.
The district continues to focus attention on the social-emotional well-being of our students and staff, and by adjusting their homework schedule for Veterans Day, so that nothing is assigned over the Veterans Day weekend, we are making an impact on our educational stakeholders. Annually, the issue of homework is one that has generated discussion across the region and it has been reported to teachers and administrators that schedules and stress levels tend to grow as the year progresses. We hope that these homework free nights can help relieve some of that stress.
More importantly, each year we have used this time away from homework to allow our students and staff, and their families, to focus on the importance of recognizing Veterans Day. In lieu of homework, it is our hope that members of our school community, as they have done each year, will find the time on Veterans Day (or over the weekend) to thank a Veteran they may know for their service to our country. The person they reach out to could be a relative, a neighbor or a friend.
In addition, if members of our school community can attend the Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony on November 11th at Veterans Memorial Park, I know that the dedicated group of men and women, who have given so much to our country would greatly appreciate the gesture. As a district, we like to say “WeRMarshfield” and this simple gesture is just one more example of our community coming together to honor some very special people.
