LMHS Winter Concert
A big congratulations to all the bands and choirs that participated in the LMHS Winter Concert Thursday night! You all sang and played wonderfully and should be proud of your accomplishments.
Gift Card Drive
A Heartfelt thank you to all who made this year's Gift Card Drive a success. Because of you, many families who are struggling this year will have a better holiday. We were also able to supply many families with groceries as well. What a great community we have! Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.
Please Welcome our new LHS Assistant Principal, Yanina Burns
Please help me in welcoming to the LHS community Mrs. Yanina Burns our new LHS Assistant Principal. Mrs. Burns was the Physical Education Teacher at Lunenburg Primary School and also had experience at Fitchburg High School, where she was a Department Head and member of the leadership Team. Mrs. Burns also has experience as a varsity coach at the high school level.
Yanina has her Masters degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Fitchburg State University and is enrolled in the CAGS program in Educational Leadership, also at Fitchburg State.
Yanina's experience working with a high school population, coupled with her leadership experience and education is what made her the choice of our hiring committee.
I look forward to her start date of January 2, 2024. I will be arranging several opportunities for Yanina (pronounced Sha- Nina) to be at the high school to meet and interact with students, faculty and parents.
Spain Trip - April 18-26, 2025
Lunenburg High School is going to Spain in April, 2025! This eight-day trip will begin in beautiful Barcelona, and students will then travel to Valencia, through the region of Andalucia to Granada, and end up in Sevilla. This opportunity is open to students who will be at LHS during the '24-'25 school year (currently enrolled in grades 8, 9, 10, 11). 'Tis the Season of Giving!
The Lunenburg Public Schools Secretaries are hosting the 6th Annual GIFT CARD DRIVE to help our Lunenburg families in need of assistance this holiday season, now more than ever!
This year, we can accept gift cards emailed to mbowen@lunenburgschools.net, or by dropping off at or sending the card into any Lunenburg Public School with a student, or by mail to: Lunenburg Middle High School 1079 Massachusetts Avenue Lunenburg, MA 01462

LHS Winter semi formal
The Winter Wonderland Semi-formal will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 7-10 pm. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. and are being sold at lunches through Wednesday, December 13.
LMHS LIBRARY DIGITAL RESOURCES
The library offers many digital resources such as research databases, ebooks, audiobooks, citation creation and digital notecard/research organization tools. Links to these can be found on the library website: https://sites.google.com/lunenburgschools.net/lmhs-library-media-center. The databases are grouped by subject areas to make navigating the many resources easier. Databases work automatically within the school building, but passwords are needed for home access. The database passwords are accessible from any database page on the library website - look for the blue banner at the top of each database page. As long as a student is logged into their school Google account, clicking that link will open the list of usernames and passwords for all of the databases offered through the library.
Mrs. Vallee is available in the library and by email at pvallee@lunenburgschools.net for any student needing help finding a book, researching a topic, using the databases, or creating citations.
OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS
Reminder to all students - overdue notices are sent to your school email every Tuesday morning. If you need to keep the book longer for a project, just reply to the email that you’d like to have it renewed. We do not charge overdue fines, but books do need to be returned as part of senior obligations and if leaving the district/applying to Monty Tech. Don't forget you can log into your Destiny accounts any time to see which books you have checked out and when they are due.

Click login in the upper right corner. Your user name is the beginning of your Google account (2027MaryB) and your password is the same as your Google account (such as meb127999).
Check your lockers, cars, houses and classrooms for those books. Please get those overdue books in ASAP so that others can enjoy them too!!!
You can return books to the library or place them on the Return Cart outside the front office. See Mrs. Vallee in the library or email her at pvallee@lunenburgschools.net if you have any questions or need help renewing books. Thank you!!

LHS After School Help
We will begin our Lunenburg High School After School Program for students starting Oct. 11th. The program will provide academic support for high school students and run from 2:30-3:30 on Monday-Thursday each week. This program will be at no cost to families and will be held in the library of the Lunenburg Middle-High School building. A snack and water will be provided to students who attend each day. Please fill out and submit the registration form below if your student will participate in session one of our After School Program.

National Honor Society Tutoring Program
National Honor Society is running a peer tutoring program for this school year. The program will run every Tuesday from 2:30 - 3:30 in the High School project room and students from both the middle and the high school level are welcome to attend.

College Applications, College Acceptance, and Post Graduation Career Plans - For those still working on College Applications and post graduation career plans, please set up a meeting with your Counselor, we are here to help. If you have received an acceptance letter from a college, Congratulations and please let the Counseling office know.
Air Force ROTC High School Scholarship Program - The Air Force ROTC (AFROTC) High School Scholarship Program Application deadline is December 31, 2023. Please note, SATs are required. AFROTC is a 4-year program that allows college students to commission as officers in the Air Force or Space Force while earning a college degree. AFROTC teaches cadets about leadership theory, physical fitness, drill and ceremonies, and much more. See Mrs. Foster or visit afrotc.com for additional information.
Scholarship Opportunities - The School Counseling Office has a new Scholarship page on the LHS website. Please note, there are scholarship opportunities for Grades 9 through 12. The link to the new page is as follows:

Seniors, please also continuously check the 2024 Guidance Google Classroom for scholarship opportunities and applications. Hard copies of applications can be obtained from Mrs. Foster in the Counseling office. Due dates vary by scholarship. It is your responsibility to ensure that a complete application is submitted and received on time. Please note, the scholarship opportunities posted in the 2024 Guidance Google Classroom are not exhaustive. Please consider signing up for Going Merry (https://www.goingmerry.com/) or similar.
Grades 9-11 Cross Country/Track & Field 2024 Campership Award - District E is offering a 2024 Campership Award for students in grades 9 through 11. If selected for the campership, the $250 award will be sent to the camp of your choice. The 2024 application can be obtained here: https://www.cmtfoa.org/Campership%2024.pdf. Applications MUST be received by Saturday, May 11, 2024. It is your responsibility to ensure that a complete application is submitted and received on time.
December College and Military Rep Visits - There are currently no College or Military Rep visits scheduled for the month of December. The US Army will be visiting LHS on January 9th during lunch blocks.
SATs - Any student interested in taking the SATs should visit the College Board website at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration for test dates, registration deadlines, and to register. For any student who has already taken the SATs, SAT scores need to be obtained through the College Board.
Work Permits - Students age 14 - 17 years old must complete an Employment Permit Application before starting a new job. Once you have completed the Employment Permit Application Form, please bring the completed Form to Mrs. Cooney in the Main Office. An Employment Permit Application can be obtained from the following link: https://www.mass.gov/doc/youth-employment-permit-application/download.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) - The Counselors continued with SEL advisories in classes this week. Each class will have one meeting over the course of Q1.
MWCC Dual Enrollment Information Sessions - MWCC offers dual enrollment information sessions the first Wednesday of each month from 6pm - 7pm.
ASVAB - There is an Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program (CEP) Parent Q&A Meeting on January 22, 2024 at 6PM EST for anyone interested. The ASVAB CEP is designed to help a student learn more about themselves, explore occupations in line with their interests and skills, discover ways to enter the career fields they are best suited for, and develop an effective strategy to achieve their career goals.
