February 10th, 2024, will usher in the Lunar New Year for 2024 - the Year of the Dragon. CVUSD is committed to honoring and valuing the traditions and cultural significance of the Lunar New Year and the contributions and accomplishments of the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. For families who would like to enroll their student in a CVUSD school other than their assigned neighborhood school, this may be completed via the online School Choice Application process. The priority deadline for the 2024-2025 School Choice Application has been extended one week to the new date of Wednesday, February 7th at 11:59pm.

Curiosity, play and learning unite at CVUSD Preschool! CVUSD Preschool provides individualized, hands-on learning opportunities for children ages 18 months to five years. The CVUSD Preschool Program also offers full day and half day, cost-free California State Preschool for income-eligible families. Wonder Preschool is now enrolling for the 2024-2025 school year! Wonder's classrooms use curriculum which emphasize Kindergarten readiness and incorporate the California Department of Education Preschool Learning Foundations. Teachers and children explore learning together, expanding curriculum into genuine inquiry. Children will be challenged to construct their own learning, think reflectively, pursue understanding of new material, and master new skills.

Wonder accepts students who are 2.9 - 5 years old and fully potty trained.

This spring, the CVUSD is offering, for the first time ever, the opportunity for our students to register to take the SAT® on a CVUSD high school campus on a non-school weekday.

Act Now to Reserve Your Spot! Friday, February 9th is the Deadline to Register
To register to take the SAT® on a CVUSD high school campus on Monday, March 18, 2024, login to Q Parent Connect and follow the payment instructions LINK. The cost of the exam is $80. Fee reductions are available to students who qualify. Students will need to bring their fully charged, school-issued Chromebook with them to take the assessment. Click here to learn more.

The CVUSD community is invited to join the District’s Instructional Services team for two scheduled Preview Nights (virtual) to review a proposed new middle school Core Literature title: Almost American Girl by Robin Ha (Grade 8) and two proposed new high school Core Literature titles: Overground Railroad by Candacy Taylor (11CP/AP/IB), and Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (AP English Lit and Comp):

Congratulations to Westlake High School (1st Place) and Thousand Oaks High School (3rd Place) for earning top place awards in the Ventura County Office of Education hosted 2024 Ventura County Academic Decathlon. This marks an impressive fourth consecutive year that Westlake High has placed first overall in the annual contest where students compete in ten academic events that cover subjects ranging from art to economics. The Warriors will now advance to the state Academic Decathlon. Way to go!

Newbury Park band director, Dennis Crystal, and the Panther Band Boosters, have a long tradition of bringing "A" list talent to the Conejo Valley and inspiring jazz students in our schools. This tradition continued in January when Mr. Crystal invited Jazz bands from Newbury Park High, Thousand Oaks High and Westlake High School to have workshops with the amazing Terell Stafford, director of Jazz Studies at Temple University, and member of the Vanguard jazz Orchestra in NYC, and Jen Krupa, a 20-year member of the United States Navy Commodores jazz ensemble. The 90-minute clinics culminated in a collaborative jazz concert on Tuesday, January 23rd, at NPHS, to a packed house, with all schools performing alongside these icons in music.
