Week of February 8, 2021
Mid-Winter Break is Coming!
A Message from our Superintendent Regarding Calendar Changes
Dear Parents/Guardians,
While this year has been a bit more challenging than most, it has been successful in large part due to your support and flexibility. I am writing today to notify you about changes we made to the master school calendar.
- February 16 (Tuesday) - CHANGE to ½ Day for Students
- March 19 (Friday) - CHANGE to ½ Day for Students
These dates are changing from full days to half-days to accommodate the educator COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic that will run from 12:00 - 7:00 pm on both days. We have to schedule our staff during this time frame for their vaccinations as do several other school districts. The clinic is located at the Berrien County Health Department in Benton Harbor and will take about an hour for each staff member to get vaccinated. We do not have the staff to cover classes for the amount of time required for our team to get vaccinated.
- March 4 (Thursday) - CHANGE to No Student Day - “Work From Home Day”
This day is changing from a full face-to-face day to a NO STUDENT DAY, with students participating in school from home to accommodate a professional development opportunity for our entire staff.
Our elementary (K - 5) will bring materials/work home with them on March 3rd to be completed on March 4 while our secondary (6 - 12) students will use the day to catch-up on missing assignments and work on future assignments via Google Classroom.
Should you have any questions regarding any of these changes, please feel free to contact me or your building principal. The Board of Education and I thank you in advance for your continued support and flexibility!
Sincerely,
David A. Ehlers Superintendent
TV News Valentines for Sale

Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences
Over the course of the next week you will receive emails from each of your child's 6 teachers. They will inform you if they have concerns regarding your child's progress in their class and provide you with the information to schedule a virtual conference if needed. Students that are performing well in class will not require a conference, however as always if you would like to meet with a teacher, please reach out and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Quarantined Students
We understand that it is an inconvenience when your child is quarantined due to a positive contact. Our teachers have done a fabulous job of insuring that their content is accessible online for those students. Be sure to have your child check their Google Classroom throughout the school day for new assignments or videos. Teachers are happy to answer questions via email or even schedule Google Meets if needed. Students will be given grace when they return to the building, but it is much easier for them if they can stay up on their assignments while they are at home.
