Notes from the School Nurse
Hello Parents/Guardians!
As we are now into cold/flu season and also still dealing with COVID-19, this note serves as a gentle reminder regarding a few things related to student health.
WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL
1. Sick children need to be kept home from school; to include excessive coughing, sore throat, runny nose/congestion, vomiting, and/or high body temperatures (fever). Resting at home will help them get better more quickly and will prevent them from exposing other children or the staff to their illness.
2. For additional information and/or questions regarding when to keep your child home from school please visit the link below:

Your acts of kindness and generosity have touched our hearts and reinforced the strong sense of community we have here at CMIT.
Here's a glimpse of what we have in store for the coming week:
Reading:
In reading, we will be wrapping up Week 4 and diving into Week 5. During Week 5, we will explore various persuasive texts, sharpening our skills in understanding and analyzing persuasive writing. Additionally, we will focus on crafting personal narratives. Please encourage your child to read at home and engage in meaningful discussions about their reading materials. The spelling pattern for the week will be words with the VCCV syllable pattern.
Math:
We are excited to announce that we are nearing the end of Unit 11 in math. This unit has allowed us to explore strategies for subtraction within 1,000. To assess our progress, we will be conducting the unit test next week. We encourage you to practice math concepts with your child at home to reinforce their learning.
Social Studies:
In social studies, we will be wrapping up our unit on "making a difference." Students have been exploring the ways individuals can positively impact their communities. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and understanding grow throughout this unit.
Science:
Our next adventure takes us into the fascinating world of habitats. We will begin our science unit on habitats, where students will explore the interdependence of plants and animals within different ecosystems. Get ready for an exciting exploration of our natural world!
Reminders:
Please note that testing will commence next week. Students will be taking their DIBELS assessment, which measures their reading fluency. It's important for them to be well-rested and have a nutritious breakfast to support their best performance.
As always, we value your partnership in your child's education. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to another engaging and productive week together!
