Learning Matters!
A FREE learning event for Oakland County parents
This event will focus on Pre-K through 8th grade learners.
Reading and Writing: "What's Home Got to Do with it?"
Nationally known author and keynote speaker, Dr. Lester Laminack, will share his insights as a literacy consultant working with schools and parents throughout the country and abroad.
Gain tools and understanding of the importance of literacy, mathematics, social/emotional health and how you can support your child at home
Why should you attend? The day will include:
- Practical strategies for home and school
- Opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills for your children and yourself
- A chance to meet and work with parents and educators
- Ways for you to increase your voice and influence
The evidence is consistent, positive and convincing: Families have a major influence on their children's achievement. When schools, families and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school and like school more.
