This past week has been challenging as there have been numerous staff absent. Here is a reminder of some of the mitigation strategies we utilize to limit the Covid spread as much as possible:

• Frequent handwashing and sanitizing throughout the day
• Social Distancing as much as possible
• Keeping students with only their classmates during Music, Art, PE, Counselor, Media Center and Movement
• Following board approved masking policies

I have attached both the Shawnee Heights Covid Mitigation document and KSDE information about the updated guidelines for substitutes as Kansas is extremely low on substitutes.

Despite the challenges of Covid our goal continues to be supporting students in learning. Thus, we will still have our Spelling Bee this coming Friday, January 21st. Fourth through sixth graders not participating in the Spelling Bee will watch via Zoom as we want to support the hard work of our spelling bee contestants.

As an elementary principal I enjoy working collaboratively with staff members to support student learning. I am passionate about continuing to learn professionally, and building relationships with staff and students at Berryton Elementary. When I'm not serving at Berryton Elementary I am usually with my husband and two sons. We can be found at sporting events, cheering on Kansas State University, or just enjoying a movie at home.
