Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Thank you to all of the families who are new to Hyde-Addison ES and joined the Virtual Question and Answer session. Some of the information discussed, including meals and immunizations, can be found in the newsletter, below.

As we continue to prepare for the 2022-2023 school year, I must share that effective August 1, 2022, Mr. Kalyn Blueitt, the Director of Operations (MSL), will be transitioning to a role with DCPS Central Office. He has meant so much to the school community and will be greatly missed. We certainly wish him well.

Over the coming weeks, the Hyde-Addison ES team will continue to share DCPS guidance around the 2022-2023 school year, as information becomes available.

Hyde-Addison Elementary School

For the upcoming school year meal charges will resume for lunch. Students at all DCPS schools receive free breakfast. Click HERE for full details and to access the online application to receive free or reduced meals. Families that do not qualify for free or reduced meals click HERE for meal price information and payment.

The school supply lists for SY22-23 are now posted on the Hyde-Addison website. Consider purchasing a school supply kit through the PTA! (see below for more information)

If your family is in need of assistance purchasing school supplies for your child, please email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to share your child's name and the grade level they will be in so we can ensure every child has equitable access to materials.

When you receive the family newsletter by email on Fridays, as well as most other schoolwide correspondences, you have the option to click and view the newsletter in a web browser. Viewing the newsletter in a web browser enables automatic translation into over 20 languages as well as provides the option for increased visibility with high-contrast settings and increased font sizes.

Family Newsletters will continue to be archived on the Hyde-Addison website (https://www.hydeaddisondc.org/projects) throughout the year for your reference.

To attend school, students must be current with their immunizations. Immunization compliance is documented by submitting a completed Universal Health Certificate to the school at the time of enrollment. A series of medical forms, DCPS School Enrollment Packet.pdf, should be turned in to the school as part of the enrollment process, and any updated forms throughout the school year should be submitted to the school nurse.

Save time this year by buying your classroom supplies through the PTA and having them shipped directly to Hyde-Addison! CLICK HERE TO ORDER!

Supply lists for the 2022-2023 school year are ready! All school supply kits are priced competitively as if you shopped around and bought the supplies in stores or online, but the PTA will buy them in bulk and make some profit on the savings. We will stick to name brands and teachers' specific requests and also coordinate getting them to the classroom.

There are, however, some important EXCLUSIONS from the supply lists that you will need to purchase separately if these items are included on your students' list: personal water bottles, headphones, backpacks, sleeping covers, change of clothes, family photos and any at-home materials. Thank you for your support! The sale will be open until August 3.

We hope your summer has been off to a great start! Champions is looking forward to bringing our accredited after school program to Hyde-Addison Elementary School for school year 2022-23. Our team is truly excited to meet you and learn more about you and your children!

At this time, Champions is pleased to share an important registration update. Although registration for DC area programs is manual; you may complete the fillable Enrollment Agreement (attached below), print, sign and initial (only hard signatures/initials will be accepted), scan and email to Field Leader, Gabrielle Barnett: gabrielle.barnett@discoverchampions.com

If you would prefer to submit a copy of your completed enrollment agreement in person, Champions will be operating a summer program at Harriet Tubman/3101 13th St. NW; and team members will be available from 11:15 am – 1:15 pm or 3:00 pm– 5:00 pm, on the following Thursdays: July 14, 21 and 28; to accept forms and answer questions.

If you are a family with a demonstrated need for financial aid, scholarships will be available during the interim period between the start of school and confirmation of your childcare subsidy agreement. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, or have questions about the subsidy process, please reach out to Field Leader Gabrielle Barnett gabrielle.barnett@discoverchampions.com.

Please note, you must provide your free/reduced lunch letter to qualify for a scholarship.

Once you have completed and emailed or submitted your Enrollment Agreement, the Hyde-Addison Champions team will follow up with next steps to complete required information for the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and information to set up accounts for payment.

Did you know that Hyde-Addison has an Equity and Antiracism Task Force that all families, teachers, and staff are welcome to join?
