Updates from the Principal's Office
Dear Sward Families,
Wow! What an amazing performance at our spring concert today! From the scarves to the instruments to the beautiful voices... incredible. If you missed it, I will be sending out a link for you to enjoy as soon as it has been uploaded. Thank you to Mrs. Glikis for leading our students to become such wonderful musicians while they develop a deep appreciation for music.
Your partner in education,
Mrs. Candy Kramer
FLASH Program Information
FLASH is the before and after school care program available through the Oak Lawn Park District. This program is held here at Sward School. Registration for the upcoming school year begins on July 5. Please click here for additional details and contact information.
Important Reminders
Even though there are only a couple of weeks left in the school year, the students are still missing important educational activities when they arrive late or leave early.
Please ensure you leave with plenty of time to make it to school on time. We have had a LOT or tardies recently. Also, if at all possible, please try to not sign your child out early as it does disrupt the teaching and learning occurring in their classroom.
The office has been getting busier and busier at arrival and dismissal with tardies and having to call classrooms with last minute instructions for the children.
If you can, please try to give after school instructions to your child before they leave in the morning.
With your partnership, we can have a smooth ending to the 2022-2023 school year.
Incoming Kindergarten Open House
If you have a child enrolled to enter Kindergarten for next year, you are invited to an upcoming
Kindergarten Open House on Wednesday, 5/24 from 6:00 to 7:30 in the Sward gym. The
Kindergarten teachers have lots of information to share that evening to help your child’s
transition into Kindergarten, so please plan to attend if possible. Incoming Kindergarteners are encouraged to attend with their parent/guardian.
If you have a child that will be turning 5 by September 1st of this year and you have not enrolled
them for Kindergarten for next year, you can find information on our district website:
https://www.d123.org/departments/teaching-learning/programs/kindergarten
The sooner you enroll you child for next year the better!

Field Day
Field Day is set for Thursday, June 1 and will be here before we know it. Field Day forms were sent home last week in case you are interested in volunteering. We have a new system called Visitor Aware that all volunteers will need to be processed through prior to any volunteering. Our volunteers will need to click this link: https://app.visitor-aware.com/self-registration/register/demwgesqreo1 They will be prompted to answer some questions and register. Then, on the day of the event, volunteers will need to bring their drivers license to finish up the process. The system will print out a wearable tag with the volunteer's photograph that will need to be worn throughout the duration of the volunteering.
Volunteers must be 18 or older and we ask that you do not bring siblings with you if you plan to volunteer.
Additionally, there is a volunteer form for parents who might like to volunteer for the Pitch Burst game and a permission slip for your child to have a popsicle treat the day of field day.
