NEW! Elks! National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship -2017 MVS Scholarship Application
Due - November 30, 2016
- Applicants need not be realted to a member of the Elks.
- Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
- The application must be submitted to the Elks Lodge nearest to the applicants home by 11/30/16.

Students who do not complete and submit this form by the scholarship deadline may not be considered for any admissions-based freshman scholarships. Please note, there is a limited number of scholarships available and meeting eligibility requirements is not a guarantee of an award.

Horizon Bank Scholarship Date extended!
Applicants for the Horizon Bank Minority Scholarship must have documented proof of the following:
- Must be a current or past graduate of a high school in Lake, LaPorte or Porter Counties in Indiana.
- Must have a letter of acceptance for the school year from an accredited college or university.
- Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale for the applicants’ high school or college career.
- Must have participated in extra-curricular, community and volunteer activities.
- Must be able to prove financial need.
- The scholarship money must be applied to the University.

THE HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIPS

The application for Horatio Alger Scholarships for students entering college in Fall 2017 is now open! Encourage family, friends, and any high school students with whom you may interact to apply to be considered for many different opportunities (National, State, and Specialized Programs)! To be eligible to apply for a Horatio Alger State Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria*:
- Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2017 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
- Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
- Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
- Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
- Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
- Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
- Be a United States citizen

Information to gather
- A transcript – you will need this to report the course level and grades that you have received since your freshman year in high school.
- A school profile – you will need this to answer several questions about your school such as your school code, the number of AP, IB and Honors classes your school provides, and the number of community service hours required for graduation.
- The name, email address and phone number of your guidance counselor and principal.
- A list of school and non-school related clubs and organizations in which you have participated since your freshman year and any corresponding leadership positions.
- A list of honors and awards that you received when participating in school and non-school related clubs and organizations and the level of each award (Local, State, Regional or National) since your freshman year.
- A list of your volunteer organizations with which you have served and the number of hours served with each, and any awards and honors that you have received for your participation since freshman year.
Applicants must be:
- Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States (or select DoD schools)
- U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees
- Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application
- Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution

MLK Art, Writing, and Multimedia Contest - SCHOLARSHIP - Grades 9-12
The Indiana Civil Rights Commission and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission are proud to announce the 2017 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Writing, and Multimedia Contest. I am writing to request your assistance in advancing this opportunity to as many students as possible. You can do this by ensuring that the attached letter and registration form are distributed to all teachers at your high schools.
The contest theme for this year is: “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.” We are asking students to use this quote as inspiration, and show through art, writing, or multimedia how their generation can create a bridge to peace for the future.

Marian University announces creation of Educators College
THE JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
This highly competitive scholarship includes:
- Up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school
- Ability to pursue any area of study
- Personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid
- Multifaceted advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience

NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing
Aspirations in Computing is a talent development pipeline initiative of the National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT) designed to increase women's meaningful participation in computing careers by providing encouragement, visibility, community, leadership opportunities, scholarships, and internships to high potential technically inclined young women. Aspirations in Computing is the only national level talent development program for young women in computing and information technology.
NEW! Foot Locker Scholar Athletes
1) are currently high school seniors scheduled to enroll in an accredited, four-year US college or university in the Fall of 2017,
2) have maintained an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or above from ninth grade to first semester of 12th grade,
3) are US citizens or US legal permanent residents,
4) are currently members in good standing of a sports team at their school or are involved in an after-school sports program, and
5) are NOT Foot Locker employees or have immediate family who are Foot Locker employees.
NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards
The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards program was established to raise awareness among the nation’s youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. Since 2003, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation has awarded over 2,800 scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling more than $2.8 million.

AIM High – Apply to be an NSF-AIMS Scholar!
NSF - AIMS Scholarships provide up to $10,000 per year to undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor of Science degrees in the following majors: Actuarial Science, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Information Systems, Geology, Informatics, and Mathematics. Scholarships are awarded to academically talented students with demonstrated financial need. Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen and community college graduates. Scholarships are renewable each year, up to three years for entering freshmen and one year for community college graduates.

The ISM College Planning Team Members will meet with families and students in grades 3-10 in School City of Hobart to discuss the paying for college process. Picking the right major and college, scholarship search tips, types of aid, and the FAFSA are some of the topics that will be discussed.
