Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
As you may know, Teacher Appreciation Week is May 7-11. During this week PTO has traditionally provided lunch to help celebrate the dedication of our hardworking Pontiac teachers. We have traditionally asked our generous families to provide desserts for our teacher luncheon. If you would like to donate to this event, representatives from Pontiac PTO will be collection dessert donations in the morning carline on Friday, May 11th. These desserts will be served to our teachers at the luncheon that afternoon. Thank you for continued support of Pontiac and our PTO.
Portrait Donation
Please join me in expressing our appreciation to the Pontiac Masonic Lodge.
They donated a beautiful portrait of George Washington for our school media center. We are so thankful for the work they do in our community. Several members of the organization came to our school and presented this generous gift on our school news show.
Living by the Mission statement
Now that you created your family mission statement, make sure it is visible and conspicuous, because it is time to live it! Some families put it in a frame and hang it in different locations in their home as a reminder. Other families repeat their family mission statement at meals to remind them of what their family stands for before they go out the door.
School Portraits
IT'S NOT TOO LATE...
Dear Parents,
Your child's portraits were sent home 2-3 weeks ago for you to preview.
We trust that you were well pleased. We are now completing this fundraiser for our school.
- If you would like to purchase any part of these portraits, please return the payment to your child's teacher tomorrow.
- If you do not desire to purchase these portraits, please return the package to your child's teacher tomorrow.
Mission Statement
The Community and Action Team hope that you and your family have discussed your vision, plan, or goal for your family. Below are the next steps for creating the Mission Statement.
Creating a Mission statement
After defining the outcome, next is to create a family mission statement. In order to do this, figure out what is most important to your family by answering these seven questions:
- What is the purpose of our family?
- What kinds of things do we want to do?
- What kind of feeling do we want to have in our home?
- What kind of relationships do we want to have with one another?
- What are our family’s priorities?
- What are our responsibilities as family members?
- How can we contribute to society as a family and become more service-oriented?
Give your children the opportunity to express their feelings of what they think is important to your family. Mission statements do not need to be long or formal, they just need to represent what is important to you and your family. Don’t try to rush this process. This may take a few months! Make sure that your family feels that the mission statement clearly represents what is important to everyone.
