Pin of the Week
Miss DeCarbo shares two really great and EASY small group warm-up activities that are student-led and student-initiated.
"The idea is that your students know exactly what to do the second they reach the small group table. In this way, students can get started on their reading practice as soon as they reach the small group table, automatically knowing what to do, without the teacher’s directions." There are a few products from her TpT store mentioned. If you would like any of the products, let me know and I will get them for you.

Teacher Tips for the First Day Back From Winter Break
Miss DeCarbo shares five things to do on the first day back from winter break: simple and important reminders for primary teachers. She shares tips for morning work, possibility of sadness, adding "white space" to your day, scheduling share time, and reviewing routines and procedures.
"If we’re realistic, we can’t pretend that our students did not have to get up early for the past two weeks. We can’t pretend that they didn’t stay up extra late, eat extra sugary treats, and share very special time and memories with their families. We can’t assume that EVERY student listened to us when we reminded them to read every day over break. We can’t assume they had a structured daily schedule as they do when they are in our classrooms. We can acknowledge that the first day back from break is critical in setting the tone for the remainder of our year together. In some ways, it is as important as THE first day of school. It can be a smooth and happy transition back to school for my kids. Or, it can be one of frustration and rushed chaos."

Motivational Quote of the Week
One word has the potential to change everything. Words have power. Let’s use our words as a source of inspiration to those around us: our coworkers, our students, our community. Your challenge this week is to find someone who needs a kind word and to give them one. So simple, but so important. Search out those in need of a little encouragement and be a friend to them. Just a few words, or even one kind word, can change a person’s whole day. Let them know you care; it will make your day a better one, too.
What the Principal is Reading
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Screenplay by J.K. Rowling
J.K. Rowling's screenwriting debut is captured in this exciting hardcover edition of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay. When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt's fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone.
Warrior Witch by Danielle L. Jensen
The thrilling conclusion to the breakout Malediction Trilogy by Goodreads Choice finalist Danielle L. Jensen. Cécile and Tristan have accomplished the impossible, but their greatest challenge remains: defeating the evil they have unleashed upon the world. As they scramble for a way to protect the people of the Isle and liberate the trolls from their tyrant king, Cécile and Tristan must battle those who’d see them dead. To win, they will risk everything. And everyone. But it might not be enough. Both Cécile and Tristan have debts, and they will be forced to pay them at a cost far greater than they had ever imagined.
In Shining Armor by Elliott James
When someone kidnaps the last surviving descendant of the Grandmaster of the Knights Templar, it's bad news. When the baby is the key to the tenuous alliance between a large werewolf pack and the knights, it's even worse news. They're at each other's throats before they've even begun to look for baby Constance. But whoever kidnapped Constance didn't count on one thing: she's also the goddaughter of John Charming, modern-day descendant of a long line of famous dragon slayers, witch finders, and wrong-righters.
