Equipping Everyone for Excellence
Message from our Superintendent
It's hard to believe that September is already here. We have had a great start to the school year! Check out the new weekly podcast called "The Midweek Minute with the Superintendent" sponsored by RadioAlabama. I encourage you to submit topics that you would like to hear discussed.
The month of September is School Attendance Month. Please be sure to send your students to school each and every day. We want Everyone to be Equipped for Excellence!

Workforce Development
The Alabama State Department of Education updated graduation requirements for the current sophomore class of 2026, relating to college and career readiness indicators. Therefore, it is essential that our students meet at least one of the following options to be eligible for graduation:
Achieve a benchmark score in any subject area on the ACT® College Entrance Exam
Receive a qualifying score of three or higher on an Advanced Placement® Exam
Earn dual enrollment/college credit while in high school
Attain a silver or gold level on the ACT WorkKeys Exam
Earn a career and technical education industry credential (listed on the compendium of valuable credentials of the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways)
Enlist in the military
Complete at least three courses in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway to earn a completer status (foundation, concentrator, and capstone courses in a single pathway)
Sylacauga City Schools Foundation
The Sylacauga City Schools Foundation's 8th Annual 5K/10K Run will be held on Saturday morning, October 28, at Legion Stadium. We invite businesses and individuals to show your support as a corporate sponsor. Attached is the corporate sponsorship form to complete and send in with payment. Don't forget to lace up your running shoes and join us on October 28th for the 5k/10k race. All proceeds help to fund grants that impact student learning . . . it's all about our students!
