Principals Message
Dear Burbank Families,
Welcome back to school and happy 2024! We are excited about the second half of the school year. We have a parent meeting coming up on February 13th. During this time, we will talk about math activities you can do with your child.
Our attendance rate is up to 94% and we are working towards our goal of 96%. Please help us reach our goal. The more your students attend school, the more they learn, and the more they learn, the more they will progress. My goal as the principal is for every student at Burbank to have the best education possible and to perform at grade year after year. In order to reach this academic goal, all families must agree to work with the students on English and math every day.
Please ensure that you are reading with your child and doing math problems with them daily. It can just be an occasional math addition, subtraction or multiplication problem with single digits. You can verbally do this, but please do it with your child. I used to ask my son math questions, walking home from school, shopping at the grocery store, or driving to the doctor's office. These are just the times I would have his attention. You can pick the times that work for you.
During our winter intersession, we had 55 students present. We had amazing activities in addition to the academic blocks. Not only did students learn English and Math, but they were also able to see an incredible Ballet Folklorico group, Critters and Creatures assembly and were able to play with robots. Each student that was present will also receive a yo-yo as a follow up to the NED assembly.
If you need flashcards, please send me an email and I can have it ready for you at the front desk. Thank you for your continued support.
As always, great things happen at Burbank and we are happy to share them with all of you.

Attendance Matters
This week you should of received Morning Wake-Up calls with a message from our VP Ms. Mellor with our Attendance percent, any incentives happening for the day, and our breakfast menu for the day! This will help you and your student be prepared and hopefully excited for the day!
To promote good attendance and to reach our attendance goal we will be giving away big prizes like a Nintendo Switch! So we encourage to make sure your student is here on time, present, and ready for the day!
