We are so excited to get back to having students back in the building!! Thank you for everyone that attended Meet the Teacher Night last Thursday. It was a great success (even if it wasn't what we are used to). In this latest update, our hope is to ensure that everyone is ready for the start of school.

I have set up a Google Voice Line for Pine Tree Middle School. There are times someone is at the school available to answer the phone. However, I can't always promise someone is there. This is the beauty of Google Voice. It is a direct line. Now, I can't guarantee I will always answer, but it does offer a way to leave a message or sent me text messages that I can respond to. Registration is required for all students. Unfortunately, even with the start of school coming up, we still have many students that are not registered. In order for students to have a schedule on the first day of school, registration will need to be completed ahead of time. If you need assistance with registration, please contact us for assistance.

In order to complete registration we will need a copy of the child's birth certificate, social security card, proof of residency, parent ID and a copy of immunization records.

If you have decided to enroll your student in the PTISD Virtual Academy, this information is for you. We are working to make contact with all parents to ensure we have the correct information on devices. We have a limited number of devices we can loan to students to use for online learning. For those families, we are setting up times to come to the school on Tuesday, August 18th to pick up a device and log in to the online learning platforms. For those that to not need devices, someone will be in contact with you to help log in students into our online learning platforms.

Teachers are working today (August 18th) to make contact directly with families of those students that are a part of the virtual academy. They will have specific instructions on how to log in to your student email for further instructions.

We have changed all student email addresses for the upcoming school year. Students will need to be able to log in to their new emails. This is for all students, whether you are coming to campus or online. Here is how to log in:

Look in the upper right hand corner for the gmail log in.

Google accounts for Prek-6th Grade will be studentID@ptisd.org for the account and the passwould would be the studentID with lowercase first and last name initials following.

For example, if my student ID number was 12345, my email address would be 12345@ptisd.org. My password would be 12345mw (Mickey White).

Google Accounts for 7th-12th Grade will be studentID@ptisd.org for the account and the password will be their birth date. Birthdate is in three letter month (first capitalized) , two number day and four number year. Example would be Mar031993.

The front doors open for car riders at 7:30 am. Please do not leave children unattended prior to 7:30 as this presents an unsafe environment. Please make sure your child has his or her mask on before exiting the vehicle.

Bus doors will open at 7:45 am.

All students and visitors will need to apply hand sanitizer upon entering the building.

The school day ends at 3:50 pm.

During the first nine weeks of school, all PTISD campuses will be closed to visitors. Those individuals that have business on campus such as attendance at ARDs or meetings with teachers are free to come to the school or attend virtually. Please also note that we will not be able to deliver fast food lunches to students during the first nine weeks. If a child forgets his or her lunch, they do have the option to eat free in the cafeteria each day. We are hopefully optimistic that by the end of the first nine weeks we will be able to accommodate visitors once again.

You will notice that we have tried to be very intentional about what we ask for this year in terms of supplies. We know that many of our parents have been unemployed or underemployed during this pandemic and asking for a bunch of school supplies doesn't seem right. The things we have asked for are mostly paper items since those are individual to each student. When students arrive on campus during the week of August 19, we will provide them with a pencil case that has pencils, colored pencils, scissors, glue, etc. So, you are welcome to purchase these items on your own but our goal is to help cut down on some of the costs for supplies this year.

The first 3 days of school are going to be a little different this year. Instead of everyone coming back on August 19th, we are going to bring students back to campus in shifts. Since students haven't been in school in almost 6 months and we have a lot of new procedures and expectations to teach students, this will allow us a few days with small groups of students to get us back into the groove. Below is the alpha breakdown of when we are expecting our students to be in attendance:

August 19: Last Names A-G

August 20: Last Names H-P

August 21: Last Names Q-Z

If there are multiple children in the house with different last names, please feel free to send all those children to school on the same day as the oldest child.

When students walk in on their first day of school (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday) we will have rosters posted on the walls directing students to their first period classes. There, students will receive their schedules. In most cases, their schedules have not changed. But, we do this because some schedules have changed and others have lost or misplaced their schedules prior to the start of school.

One of the benefits of starting school like this is that we can allow parents to come in with their students the first day. You are welcome to walk them to class and drop off their supplies and meet their first period teacher. After this, we ask kindly that you exit the building so that we may begin our day. If you arrive after 8:15, you will not be able to walk your student to class as our classes for the day will have already begun.

So, does that mean my child will be marked absent for 2 days? The answer is no. At Meet the Teacher Night your student received a short packet of work to complete the next week. Students will have assignments to complete for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Monday, August 24, all students will return to school. On this day, students will turn these packets in to their 1st period teacher. This will allow us to mark students present on the 2 days in which they were not physically here on campus. We will have extra packets on campus for those that missed Meet the Teacher Night

Please know that we are working diligently to ensure all of our students have the right classes. When it comes to schedule changes, we will do our best to accommodate any reasonable request. Right now we are having to balance on campus learning and at home learners with schedules, and that takes time to complete. Please note that we do not accept schedule change requests for specific teachers or so that students can be in classes with friends.

Students will need to social distance while in the cafeteria. Dots have been placed on seats and dividers have been put up to help protect students while at lunch. Please make sure that student's know their ID# for lunch. If they do not know it, it will be printed in their schedule. Further information on lunch procedures can be found in the video below:

For the 2020-2021 school year, all students in 5th and 6th grade will receive a free breakfast and a free lunch each day. There is no paperwork to complete for your child to receive their free meals. Please make sure your child knows his or her student number to take advantage of this incredible deal.
