VIKING FAMILIES

On Wednesday, students learned how to create a socially inclusive school community that combats loneliness and social isolation. As part of the lesson they also created these beautiful origami swans. On them they wrote two things about their future on how they want to be remembered after graduating and what they can do to get there. Special thanks to Mrs. Rumbaugh and Mrs. Tumilty for such an awesome project!

STUDENT LED CONFERENCE

On October 14, 2021, Albright Middle School will be holding Student-Led Conferences, which can be in person or done virtually, whichever is best for you. In a Student-Led Conference, your child presents a collection of work to demonstrate his/her learning thus far. Your child will share a self-evaluation form, as well as an evaluation form that was a collaborative effort of his/her teachers. In this model, the student is the facilitator in sharing their progress. We will be working with your student on this project and will be involved to support the process during the actual conference. Look for an email from your child's teacher before Monday with more information and times to sign up. You will be asked to pick and time and if you prefer in person or virtually. IMPORTANT PARENT REMINDERS!!

Parents please try to help your child remember all of their belongings for school. We have had an increased number of parents dropping off instruments, water bottles, and other items. The school offers free lunches daily, if a student forgets a lunch they can grab one of the hot lunches. We are trying to limit the traffic in and out of the building for COVID safety reasons. Thank you in advance.
Students should bring a refillable water bottle if they are thirsty during the day. We no longer have fountains to drink out of, only water bottle filling stations.
Call your child into school if they are absent. Leave a message on the absence line before 8:30 am at the latest please.

NURSE UPDATE: COVID 19 VACCINE

If your student has completed their COVID-19 vaccination, please email a copy of the card to the School Nurse or upload the vaccination into Skyward using the instructions below.

It is important to have proof of your student’s COVID-19 vaccination on file for contact tracing purposes. For example, if your student is identified as a close contact in a positive COVID-19 case, but they are vaccinated and remain asymptomatic, they will be cleared to remain in school. This also applies to situations where the student’s sibling exhibits possible COVID-19 symptoms: if your student without symptoms is vaccinated and remains asymptomatic, they may remain in school. If your student’s vaccination status is not documented in their file, we will assume they are not vaccinated and follow the IDPH COVID-19 Protocol accordingly.

REMOTE LEARNING GUIDELINES

If your child is home because of COVID19 symptom, the nurse will contact you about an option to have your child receive remote instruction for the time that they are home. Students will be able to observe core classes, such as ELA, math, science and social studies. If your child is unwell, please do not have them remote in to instruction. They need to rest and relax so they can return to in-person learning. You must be in Quarantine for COVID related illness or reason to receive the online instructions. Non-COVID19 related reasons include, but are not limited to, stomachache, tired, mild headache, runny nose, etc. If you are unsure if your child's symptoms are COVID related please call the school nurse.
