Cougar families,
This is our last newsletter for the year and we have lots going on. Please be sure to read through all the information regarding the last weeks of school to help your students end the year on a strong note. There is also some summer information and 2023-2024 information to support our communities!
Campus information:
STAAR –
Our last big STAAR date will be tomorrow, May 9, for Math and Algebra. All students need to remember to bring their CHARGED chromebook to school for testing. Students have done a great job on the previous testing days and we know they will do a great job tomorrow as well. They have learned so much and we are very proud of them! Please remember there are no lunch drop offs on testing days due to the testing security and changes in lunch times.
8th grade trip – Pinstack May 22
Hopefully everyone has seen the information about the 8th grade trip. Here’s the link to the letter and school pay: All payments and permission slips are due by Friday, May 12.
Student Expectations –
We have no changes in our expectations of our students through the last day of school and have reminded them of that as well. We know everyone is getting excited about summer break, but we will be addressing any behaviors that are not appropriate through the last day. Please talk with your kids about this so they don’t spend their last days of school in trouble. They know the expectations and have done a great job all year meeting those, let’s finish the year on a high note.
Student Devices –
This year we will be collecting student chromebooks that have been checked out to them for inventory and maintenance. All devices and chargers will need to be turned in after exams on Thursday, May 25. We will collecting devices through history classes and will communicate to your kids this information. What can you do now to help? You can have your kids make sure they know where their chargers! Thanks for starting the process of finding those.
Last days –
The last day students will have access to a late bus will be on Wednesday, May 24. After that date, buses will only run their normal 3:30 route in the afternoon. If a student misses the bus, they will have to call someone to come get them.
The last day students will bring their big backpacks will be on Thursday, May 25. Friday they can bring a small drawstring bag for their phone, lunch and yearbooks.
On Friday, May 26, the last day of school we will have early release at 12:35. Our buses will run at that time. Any student who is going home with a friend on the bus, must have a note from the parent in writing and approval from an administrator in order to ride the bus. Please make sure you make plans now for how your kids will be getting home that last day. We have sometimes had some sad kids when they can’t ride the bus with a friend because they didn’t get the parent note. Thanks for your help with this!
