Brenda Zoller's Grade 5 - Water Wheels

After reading about the history of water wheels and learning the basic facts of potential and kinetic energy, Brenda Zoller’s fifth grade students drew designs for and built their own water wheels. The best part was testing and modifying them, but beware of the splash zone!

Chelsea Mayer's Class - Reading Across America!

Chelsea's students are logging their AR points each day, converting them into miles, and making their way across America in February. Virtually, they packed their bags and left the Statue of Liberty on Jan. 31. They will attempt to make it to the Golden Gate Bridge in California by the end of February and celebrate their success on March 1, the birthday of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) being March 2. This project combines curriculum goals for math, language arts, and geography in a fun way.

Karen Burke - Teeny Tiny Atom

Using a mighty powerful lesson by combining Nearpod, virtual reality, and a simulation, Karen Burke taught her students about the minute world of the teeny tiny atom. They traveled to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, to visit the sight where ancient philosopher, Democritus, first proposed the idea of a universal building block. Next, they watched a short video made from atoms, and finally, created their own atoms by manipulating protons, neutrons, and electrons using a PHET simulator. Along the journey, Karen kept students engaged by using formative assessment questions she created in Nearpod. Global Virtual Valentines Project

Digital Learning Day is Feb. 28, 2019

We know that every day in MSD of MV is digital learning day, but Feb. 28 will be the day everyone else celebrates. We want to celebrate also by showcasing the amazing things you do...and offer you the chance to earn another badge, wear jeans on that day, and maybe WIN one of these very cool coffee mugs! Laura Davis - 7th - Using 3-D printers to print food (appropriate portion size) 6th - Voice over silent movie clips (nonverbal communication skills) Adding activity slides to Google Slides with NEARPOD!
