Mountain View Weekly Update

The administration would like to remind parents and students of the following procedures regarding before-school activities and morning drop-off:

- Supervision does not begin until 8:15 a.m. Students should not arrive to school prior to 8:15 a.m. as doors are locked and unsupervised.

- Students should only arrive at school earlier than 8:15 for clubs, Art Studio, Technology Lab, or extra help (by appointment). Access to the building will be through the front door only. Students must ring the "doorbell" and state their destination prior to gaining entry to the building. Those students who do not have a club meeting, extra help appointment, or other purpose for entering the building will not be permitted to enter and will be instructed to wait outside in front of their grade-level entry doors.

- On days in which there is a delayed opening, there are no before-school activities, which include Technology Lab, Art Studio, and extracurricular clubs. Supervision begins at 10:15.

- Classroom, Docs, Slides... oh my! Would you like to learn more about G Suite, including how it is implemented in the classroom and can make for more efficient communication in your daily life? - Per Board of Education regulation 5516, "Cell phones and other electronic communication devices," cell phones and smart watches may not be on a student's person during the school day. Any device that has texting or voice communication capabilities, such as a Gizmo watch, must be off and stored in the student's locker during the school day.

- As the second half of the school year begins, all grades will participate in "town hall" meetings with administration to review important policies and expectations.

- By now, we hope that you have had an opportunity to view Mendham Borough's new website. While we continue to determine how/if Mountain View can post its "daily bulletin" in the new platform, please refer to the "Live Feed" and "Events" for important dates, times, and updates.

Calling all 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Girls!! The Mt. View Guidance Department is happy to co-sponsor, along with the HSA and Parent Advocate Mrs. Patyk, a Girls Leadership workshop series on Tuesday evenings in February and March. Please click here for details and to register.

Stephanie Fourie, Mt. View parent and 3x Girls Leadership workshop participant has this to share about the program:

The Girls Leadership workshop provides a safe space for open dialogue, where a girl and her adult partner learn necessary tools for self-expression, communicating feelings, navigating friendships and resolving conflict. Digging into real-life examples afforded my daughter and I a much deeper relationship at home. The workshop experience has allowed us be on the same plane, and openly discuss and problem solve concerns using the same language. I feel confident knowing my daughter has the tools to go forward resolving conflicts on her own today, tomorrow and beyond.

Suzanne Patyk, Mt. View parent and Girls Leadership Advocate, has this to share:

I came to learn about the Girls Leadership Organization last year when I attended a parent seminar. I found it to be an inspiring and eye-opening experience. I wanted to sign up for a workshop with my daughter so we could learn more about skills for healthy conflict resolution, communication and relationships. This 4 week session is a great opportunity to be inspired and empowered alongside your daughter.
