Front Office Procedures
EARLY DISMISSAL
Students leaving Ojibwa Elementary School prior to the end of the school day will be required to be signed out in the following manner.
- Parents will utilize the call box on the exterior of the building to contact our clerk or secretary.
- Utilizing the call box video camera, clerks and secretaries will then require photo Identification to be presented to the camera for viewing.
- Once the photo identification is verified as a contact on the student contact list the secretary or clerk will contact the students classroom and ask that the student report to the front office.
- The student will be escorted to the front doors, where they will then be connected with their parent or contact.
- Parents or contacts will not be permitted into the building for early dismissal checkout unless there is inclement weather, at which point they will be granted access to the school vestibule.
Early Dismissal requests will not be granted after 3:15 PM.
LATE ARRIVAL
Students arriving late to Ojibwa Elementary School will be required to enter utilizing the following procedure.
- The parent or adult , accompanying the student, will utilize the call box on the exterior of the building to contact our clerk or secretary.
- The clerk or secretary will take the name of the student and the name of the accompanying adult, and will then allow the student access to the Ojibwa vestibule.
- The student will then enter the building and proceed to their classroom.
- Parents/Adults will not be permitted access into the building when dropping off a student for late arrival.
STUDENTS LEAVING SICK/INJURED
If an accident occurs in the building, or a child is brought to the office sick, the following steps will be taken.
- Ojibwa's health aide, Mrs. Curtis, will assess the injury or illness and will make contact with the parents of the child.
- When parent/contact arrives they will utilize the call box at the front entrance of the building, will present their identification, and will then be permitted access to the Ojibwa.
- Once permitted into Ojibwa parent/contact will be escorted to our clinic where they will pick up their child and their belongings.
- At this time the student can depart with their parent/contact for the remainder of the day.
STUDENT ABSENCES
When a student is absent from school on their assigned day they are required to contact the front office and report their absence.
To report an absence follow the following procedure.
- Call Ojibwa's Attendance Line at (586) 723-6499
- Leave a voicemail where you state your child's name, grade level, teacher's name, reason for the absence, and anticipated length of the absence.
DROPPING OFF SUPPLIES/LUNCHES
When dropping off students supplies or lunches, after the start of the school day, the following procedure will need to take place.
- When parent/contact arrives they will utilize the call box at the front entrance of the building, will present their identification, will put on their mask, and will then be permitted access to the Ojibwa vestibule.
- In the vestibule parents will place their child's labeled belongings into the Drop-off bin. If not labeled, labels will be present for parents to properly label their child's belongings.
- Once this step is complete, the parent/adult is free to leave and their child's belongings will be taken to their child.
