Attendance Reminders
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
Attendance
Attendance is taken at 9:30 every day. If your child arrives after that time WITHOUT a doctor’s note, they will be marked absent for the day.
There are 4 ways to alert the school of your student’s absence:
1.***NEW THIS YEAR*** Absence Request in Skyward- Attached you will find the directions on how to enter an absence in Skyward for your student.
2. Email me directly nicole.sebring@redoakisd.org
3. Call the front office 972-617-2685
4. Email rpsattendance@redoakisd.org.
If your student is sent home by the nurse with a letter stating they can not return the following day, your student will automatically be excused and no contact is needed.
90% Rule
The State of Texas requires that your child be present for 90% of the school year to receive credit for the year. This INCLUDES all doctor’s visits, excused and unexcused absences. “Parts of days” can also be counted if they become excessive. “Parts of days” consist of tardies and being picked up early. You will receive letters from my attendance office for every 5th absence. If your student has more than 16 absences, they will be required to attend Attendance for Credit after school. If the absences are not made up, the student will be retained.
Truancy
Truancy will be filed with our truancy administrator after 7 unexcused absences. Letters will be sent home on the 3rd day as a warning. On the 7th day, I will file truancy and send a letter home.
Attendance Letters
Attendance Letters are posted to your Family Skyward Account. As a courtesy, I will send them home. The official notification from the district is the letter posted in Skyward, and that date will be used as official notification of any attendance issues.
