Tutoring and Interventions
Teachers have set up tutorial sessions and interventions within their class periods to help reteach concepts and strengthen grade level skills. We will not be providing after school tutoring as we have in the past. We were able to provide this service during the school day due to our extended school hours this year.
Please feel free to contact your child's teacher on ways you can help your child at home to reinforce the skills being taught at school.
Counselor's Corner
Dear Dodd Parents-
We are in the most difficult part of our year where the work is getting harder and our students are growing weary. (Spring Break is just around the corner!) During this critical phase of academic development, it is important to check in with your child to see how they feel about their progress in school. If concepts are difficult for them to understand, it might be a good time to schedule a conference with their teacher to see what can be done at home to boost their self-confidence in the classroom. Any extra practice at home can make a huge impact during the school day. Staying on top of your child’s education during the elementary years, helps them obtain the foundation they need to be more independent and successful in middle school and high school.
Here are a couple helpful links to help your child gain confidence in their math facts:

Nurse's Corner
Spring is just around the corner. Personal hygiene becomes a "STRONG" issue as the weather gets warmer.
Keeping your body clean is a very important part of keeping you healthy and helping you feel good about yourself.
Here are some good ideas to go over with your tween:
1. Shower at least one time daily with soap & shampoo. Make sure to dry completely, because bacteria loves moisture.
2. Washing your face twice a day will help to prevent acne.
3. Use deodorant &/or body spray. (There are all natural deodorants available at health stores)
4. Brush your teeth twice a day.
5. Keep your hair tangle free with a brush or comb to help your hair stay healthy.
6. Trim nails regularly to prevent bacteria from getting under them.
7. Eat a healthy balanced diet to help maintain normal growth at this important time.
8. Plenty of sleep helps getting school work done, as well as normal growth.
9. Get plenty of exercise and don't sit in front of those computer games too much.
Nobody wants to be the stinky kid and/or have a stinky kid in their class. Hygiene is important for health, growth and self confidence. The teachers and staff appreciate having a "smelly" free environment to help your children achieve their goals!
The Nurse's office has limited supplies for students, but can help if student's need help.
Computer News and Updates With Mrs. Nabors
We have been practicing our typing skills using the correct hand placement and posture. We have been working on increasing our typing speed. This month we will be taking typing tests to increase and improve our typing skills.
We will work on projects using Google Slides. The students will be given a topic and rubric to create a slide presentation. They will present their finished project in class.
Students can go to my webpage to access links to practice their typing skills.
