Introduction
Galileo was called "the founder of mod ern science".he was one of the first people to study the heavens with a telescope.He also made breakthrough discoveries in the study of motion.Galileo Galilei,who is known by his first name,was born in pisa,taly,on Feb.15,1564.he entered the University of Pisa to study medicine but switched to mathematics later on.
Early Work
Galileo was interested on studying the studying the effect of the forces on the motion of our bodies.in theCathedral of Pisa he observed a chandelier swaying back and forth.He realized that it took the same time for each swingwhether the swings were big or little.this became known as the law of the Pendulum. it led to the use of the pendulum to keep track of time.
Use Of The Telescope
In about 1609 Galileo learned how the Telescope works and how its made in the NetherLands.He built his own version later.The Telescope allowed Galileo to learn a BIG thing about the SolarSystem.On january 7 1610 he discovered four moons revolving around Jupiter and in his honor he called them "the Gallilein Sattalites".
Punishment and Death
Galileo's studies brought him to a conflict with the roman Catholic church. The church still taught that earth was the center of the universe. Galileo was ordered not to teach or defend the ideas of Copernicus. He coninued to do some how.In 1633 Galileo was brought before the inquistion;a roman Catholic institution that had power then. He was punished by being house arrested.Galileo became blind at 1637 but continued to work. He died on january 8 1642.
