Letter from Neil
Kia ora koutou,
Welcome to Term 4 everyone, this year is flying by at a rate of knots!
Term 3 was another busy term here at Wilson, it was great to see so many visits out and about in the community. We have another busy term ahead of us with school photography, Diwali celebrations, awards assemblies, graduation ball, World Teachers’ Day and more visits out of school.
Our whanau learning workshop this term is being run by our Speech Language Therapists and is going to focus on communication approaches. This is being held at Base School 3rd November, don’t forget to let us know if you would like to attend, we look forward to seeing you there.
Have a great term everyone!

Devonport Classic Half Marathon
We are very proud of our staff who took part in the Devonport half marathon! The team did amazingly well and raised $1430 for the school from their efforts! Brilliant!
Junior Syndicate
We had a great fulfilled Term 3 where the junior classes participated in a range of activities to support their learning inside and outside the classroom.
Bayswater 1 and 2 visited snow planet, made several trips to their local McDonalds, and joined the Book week parade with the host school. Our students at Manuka primary satellite had a blast taking part in the colour run, participated in the epic tale of Mount Taranaki in drama sessions with Genevieve, had fun with Playball, and enjoyed Music Therapy with George. Room 4 investigated and explored science through both art and the story of George’s Marvellous Medicine while the Windy Ridge team attended witches’ school!
Each week they learned how to do a magical experiment with a focus on cause and effect- so much fun! This term our teachers have some fantastic learning programs planned all based around our central theme of ‘Arts’ with a focus on celebrations–it is going to be a busy and exciting term!
Anju Raza
Assistant Principal
Intermediate/Senior Syndicate
Last term we celebrated different cultures from around the world including Iran, Korea, Samoa and the Philippines, and ended the term with a fabulous Cultural Day with presentations and food! We investigated several countries from around the world and had fun using our green screen.
We enjoyed getting out and about in the community including to Devonport Museum, NZ Symphony Orchestra, Smiths Bush and visiting different cafes, including Flourish, practicing our communication skills.
We have continued our work in the community, learning about nature at our gardening expeditions to the glorious Shakespeare Park and some of us had a day visit to Merc where we got to paddleboard and abseil.
COVID-19 Vaccinations
If you are worried about getting the vaccine, you can talk to a trained advisor in the Healthline disability team. The team is made up of people who have experience of a disability themselves, or who have worked with the disabled community. They will support you, your whānau or someone you care for and answer any questions you may have about:
· Accessibility arrangements and getting mobility assistance at different vaccination centres.
· Getting your vaccination safely.
· Home vaccinations
· Any effects the vaccine may have on your or your medications.
The disability team is available Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm.
· Call 0800 28 29 26 and push 2.
