A group of Year 7 students visited the Applied Automation Centre at Festo Engineering in Northampton.

Year 7 Engineering Opportunities

Students were given the opportunity to look at pneumatic engineering applications and robotics in the workplace.

Special Assembly - Theme Park Designer

Ashley, Design Director from Lappset Creative presented an assembly today to students about his company which builds and produces themed activity parks and attractions.

  • Miss Connellan has nominated Year 10 student Dominika for fantastic classwork and homework in English.
  • Mrs Ferns has nominated the following Year 8 students for amazing results and progress in their term 3 assessments in Maths, Holly, Daisy, James and Nikodem.
  • Mr Gourlay has nominated Year 8 student Ruby for a wonderful job with her text-based adventure game which she wrote using Python. She has used advanced programming concepts such as looping and using functions to create a working game.
  • Mr Williamson has nominated the following Media students, Jude and Alicia in Year 9 for for excellent book work, Morgan and Amy in Year 10 for working hard, and helping raise the standard of answers in class and Year 11 students Rebecca, Erin and Kieron for high quality exam answers.
  • Mr Cox has nominated Year 10 and Year 11 Biology students for their excellent work this week. He has also nominated Year 9 Drama for their fantastic effort.
  • Miss Grieves would like to nominate Charley, 7SW for his effort in the start of the PiXL Edge Leadership task.
  • 8B3 Maths have also been nominated for their progress made in the term 3 assessment.
  • Miss Grieves would like to congratulate Robert, 7CO and Dylan 7TA who excelled in answering exam-style questions in Maths and even created a step-by-step guide in how to answer them.
  • The PE department have nominated all the students who participated in the inter-tutor dodge-ball tournament this week.
  • Miss Connellan has nominated Myrtle in 7B1 English for her excellent effort in both classwork and homework.

Ruby has created an amazing text-based game in Computing using Python.

7ST - LGBT Assembly

Well done to 7ST who managed to deliver an engaging assembly for history month, they focused on LGBT for this assembly.

Year 12 - Psychology

Year 12 Psychology students gave excellent presentations to their peers on cultural variations on attachment. They also prepared great resources to reinforce the topics they were speaking on. Mrs Vaghadia is very happy with their work!

Attendance Matters

Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.

Whole School Attendance

Our whole school attendance has dipped this week with only 93.79%. This is significantly below our target of 96%. Let us see if we can set an attendance record for week 8 - our last week of term!

9S - you have 100% attendance this week. Great job getting into school this week and keep it up!

House Winner

Well done to S House, Stephenson and Swirles who managed to get 95.11% attendance this week.
