"Hit Me! I'm Open!!"
While it isn't the NFL, or even the XFL, our HMS lunch time football games are fierce!
Mr. Cook we need a picture, they said. It will be cool, they said...
The lesson learned is that when leadership students come knocking looking for a picture...it almost always means they have a bulletin board project from Ms. Folkers...now I have this irresistible urge to go hide some cereal.
We Want YOU for the HMS Volleyball Army!
We have a LOT of young ladies out for volleyball this year! A few take a break to ham it up for a picture while Coach Bozich is distracted!
Monday, March 13-Now a day of school
Due to the cancellation of school because of winter weather, Monday, March 13 is being used to make up that day. Students will have a normal schedule. The day was built into the school calendar in case of adverse weather closures.

After School Program Information
After School Program (ASP) at Hoquiam Middle School is on a temporary hiatus. When we learn more about when they will be restarting, we will send out the information!
Home Wasn't Built In A Day...
In Mr. Harner's Construction Math class, both beginning and advanced students drew the parts for a small house, (each wall with windows and doors, a floor and
a roof). The only difference in the finished projects was that the beginning
students project were made from card stock and the advanced students were to
use the drill-press and scroll saws to make theirs from 3/16-inch plywood. As the
close of the project neared, two students stood out on the quality of their builds.
They are: Advanced student, Aldeen Olvera-Obi and beginning student, Monica
Garcia. Both showed great attention to not only the high amount of
measurements involved, but also to the details of the builds. Both houses and the
assignments that lead up to them will be on display soon, so please take a look at
them.
Mr. Harner can’t say enough about how proud he was of both students for completing their
projects so well and also for students in his classes that helped others to
complete this project.
Congratulations to our February Rotary Students of the Month and Perfect Attendance Recognition
February Rotary Students of the Month:
- Jaky Garcia- Parents: Guadalupe Aguilar & Cyrus Garcia. The 8th grade staff wanted to recognize her for her work ethic, and outstanding citizenship. She is involved in Leadership at HMS. Jaky loves watching TV and TikTok with her family, and while she wouldn't consider it a fun hobby, she cleans a lot, so considers it a hobby. Jaky's favorite classes at HMS are PE with Mr. Pelan, and Leadership with Ms. Folkers. She is proud of the work that they do in leadership, and proud of her grades in school, and that she is even considered for an honor like this. She is looking forward to the greater choice of classes, being a part of the dances and traditions, and being able to see family and friends who are already at the high school as she transitions to the high school next year.
- Daymond Cole-Parents Daymond and Danielle Cole. Daymond is being recognized for his work ethic, citizenship, and academic progress which is the result of a great deal of hard work. His favorite class is Math with Mr. Gwin. Daymond's hobbies are playing and watching sports, and playing video games. He is most proud of the hard work he has put into his grades, and that his teachers thought enough of him to put him forward for this honor. He is most looking forward to greater freedom, bigger choices of classes, and the opportunity to play both football and baseball next year, as he moves on to high school.
