Dorney Park Trip
8th Grade Parents/Guardians:
On Tuesday, students will receive three forms regarding this year's 8th Grade Trip to Dorney Park:
1. An information letter (this letter includes a chaperone sign-up form)
2. A student permission slip
3. A medical form
*If your child is attending, you will need to return all forms at the same time.
*If you are chaperoning, you will need to separate your payment from your child's.
*The window to return these items is 2/20-2/29.
*If you are suffering a financial hardship at this time, and this hardship is the reason your child will not attend, please contact your child's counselor.
I'll be sharing a stand-alone e-Alert for 8th grade families on Tuesday afternoon that includes all of this information (as well as links to the three forms listed above).
Taste of Culture Night
Log College Middle School is proud to present "Taste of Culture Night"! This exciting event brings together a diverse group of students, fostering connections through the exploration of different cultural dishes.
At "Taste of Culture Night," students have the opportunity to showcase their culinary skills by preparing and sharing traditional dishes from various cultures. From mouth-watering appetizers to delicious main courses and delectable desserts, attendees are treated to a delightful culinary journey around the world.
In addition to the diverse array of food, the event features cultural music and karaoke, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for all participants. The melodies of different cultures fill the air, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.
"Taste of Culture Night" is a wonderful opportunity for students, their families, and staff members to experience the joy of connecting with different cultures through the universal language of food and music. It's a chance to taste, learn, and make new friends while celebrating the rich diversity within our school community.

Students of the Month
We have a few students of the month for January that were not pictured last week, but we wanted to make sure that they were recognized. Congratulations again to the students who were selected by their teachers for the month of January!
Log College Celebrates Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
Log College students will participate in the following activities that celebrate the lives and culture of African Americans past and present.
Students will create a mural displaying the achievements of 5 African Americans who set precedents in their respected fields.
Students will identify famous African Americans and create BioBanners recognizing the positive contributions towards society
Students will analyze several samples of African American Culture and reflect how it impacts society today.
Students will identify contributions of African Americans through announcements and posters hung throughout the school.
American History classes will continue to discuss how slavery has shaped our society.
70's Day at Log
On February 21, there will be less than 80 days remaining in the school year (Can you believe it?!?)
What better way to acknowledge that than to roll back the clock and have a 70's Day! Dress up in your best 70's outfit.
Winter Sports
Dear Log College Families,
Winter Sports season is quickly approaching here at Log College. The Winter sports season runs from November through February and features four sports open to our 7th and 8th-grade students. Log College will be offering Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, and Cheerleading. We are pleased to announce that, for the first time (if enough students try out), we will have Junior Varsity (JV) teams for both boys and girls basketball, providing more students with the opportunity to participate in winter sports. It's important to note that these are not exclusively 7th or 8th-grade teams but are composed of a mix of both grades.
If your child is planning to participate in any of these sports, he/she must have a physical. No student may play or practice until a physical has been received.
PIAA sports physical -
All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2023). The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23 (or you can pick one up from Mr. Corey, our athletic director or any LCMS coaches).
If you have already played a sport in the Fall, you do not need to complete a new physical, but you must re-submit section 7 (Re-certification by parent/guardian) from the PIAA physical form. This page does not require seeing a doctor or medical provider.
If you did not submit a PIAA physical in the Fall, you must complete Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet. This must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8.
If you cannot find an appointment time with your doctor, you may use another provider or visit a CVS Minute Clinic or visit an Urgent Care center. The Centennial School District has a partnership with Liberty Urgent Care:
If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD, your physical will only cost $20. (Locations listed below)
