Parent/Teacher Conferences
Just a reminder that Parent/Teacher conferences will be held this Thursday, October 5th from 4:30-8:00, and Friday, October 6th from 8:00-12:00. If you have not scheduled conferences with your child's teacher, please reach out to them. We are looking forward to seeing all of our Comet families.

Volleyball
Volleyball season is off to a strong start!! Please see the attached schedule for games this week. Just a reminder that the volleyball game admission is $3.00 for adults, and students get in free.

A Note to First-Grade Families:
First-grade families - SCS continues to strive to stay updated on instructional practices to best meet student needs.
Our first-grade curriculum has been adjusted in the area of spelling. In order to build a solid foundation in phonetics, weekly spelling lists will look different going forward. The spelling assessment each week will be based on a phonetic skill (sound). To support your child at home, practice words with that sound included. Teachers will also send home reinforcement activities/ideas. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.

Familias de primer grado: SCS continúa esforzándose por mantenerse actualizado sobre las prácticas de instrucción para satisfacer mejor las necesidades de los estudiantes.
Nuestro plan de estudios de primer grado ha sido ajustado en el área de ortografía. Para construir una base sólida en fonética, las listas ortográficas semanales tendrán un aspecto diferente en el futuro. La evaluación de ortografía de cada semana se basará en una habilidad fonética (sonido). Para apoyar a tu hijo en casa, practica palabras con ese sonido incluido. Los maestros también enviarán a casa actividades/ideas de refuerzo. Comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo si tiene alguna pregunta.
Transportation Changes/Drop-offs/Pick-up
Just a reminder that transportation changes must be submitted to the office NO LATER than 1:30 daily. We cannot honor any request made after this time. Please remember that your child cannot change buses or stops from the school ride home.
If your child is a car rider, please make sure that you follow the car rider guidelines for picking up and dropping off. Students cannot be dropped off at the sidewalk as a walker. This is for the safety of students and those in the car rider line. We appreciate your help with these requests.
If you need reminders for bus information, please check Infofinder at http://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=SCS5QTZ7SAUC. Car rider tags are also available in the front office. Please contact the office if you are in need of one.

In 2018, the state of Indiana passed a law requiring all public, charter, and accredited private schools to provide child abuse prevention education to students in kindergarten through 12th grades. We have partnered with the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse and Suicide to provide Child Lures Prevention training at our school. Please see the attached letter, opt-out form, and program description for more details.
