Anti-Bullying Assemblies on Monday, October 2nd
The month of October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Monday, October 2nd, is World Day of Bullying Prevention and we are excited to be able to bring in a group (Next Gen Assemblies) that is going to kick off our month of October with an anti-bullying message for our students.
The anti-bullying message that we have asked them to use is the same message that we have been using with our students since the start of the year: being respectful, showing love, and showing kindness to everyone. They use music and movement to deliver their message. Once they finish the last assembly, they plan to hang out with our students during the lunch shifts to talk with them. We think our students are going to like it and it's a great way for us to kick off our month of October.
In addition to our anti-bullying assemblies on Monday, our PBIS focus during the month of October will be centered around anti-bullying and our school counselors will also focus on anti-bullying through the Second Step curriculum. Our counselors will specifically be teaching students how to recognize bullying, how to report bullying, how to stop bullying, and the role of the bystander. Our two school counselors are in each classroom every week.
We have zero tolerance with bullying at Central Elementary. We want our building to be a place where students feel safe, loved, and respected.
