Summaries

There are 12 districts and the capital. Katniss and Peeta are in the 12 district .The districts rebelled once, against the capital, but lost. The capital punishing the poor districts every year by taking one boy and one girl from each district and forcing them all to fight to the death. People can vote and send things in to help their bets if they have the money, but mostly its just them, killing each other, trying to win. When they win, they get the rest of their lives off, and some money.

Its about Peeta and Katniss, who are in the hunger games, fighting each other, but unwilling to kill, as peeta saved katniss's life when she was younger, and peeta is too good for killing.

They have to kill everyone else, and try to both stay alive, because the capital will not allow two to live. Its fast paced and you really feel for the characters, and you have to watch people die, for fun.

But finally Katniss and Peeta fall in love and they try to win together.The capitol try to one of them die and only win one but Katniss and Peeta think in suicide at the same time.The capitol finally said that they are the winners before they suicide,and they win.

Settings

The Hunger Games, as a science-fiction dystopian story, takes place in the future. While the exact time period is never specifically revealed, what is apparent is that it seems to be post-apocolyptic, as those inhabiting the region of what used to be North America, have survived floods, droughts, fires, storms, hurricanes, and war.

The main character, Katniss, resides in this country, called Panem, which has been divided into 12 districts. Hers, District 12, is in the region of what was once the Appalachian mountains, and is a poor, coal mining district. Further, Katniss and her family live in the poor area of this very poor district. The poverty of District 12 is directly contrasted with the wealth of the Capitol, located near what used to be the Rocky Mountains. The central government of Panem is located in the Capitol, a shining city, filled with shallow but wealthy inhabitants.
